would be nice to have a couple beers at these type events but with the way some people act with no self control I guess take the booze away,id rather have these events to attend than be able to drink at them. how did the pull turn out then, any results?

Dont know if i dare make a long trip to any big events like this anymore because of unknown actions of other people that can ruin it for everyone.
Good work DTR!!!

CTD2001:

My sincere thanks for your nice comments about the website!

As you are probably aware, there are MANY who think exactly the opposite of what you do! But,.....as we have said before, that is what makes DTR,.....DTR!

Meacham and Ryan:

Sorry you guys drove so far and were not able to race! My heart also goes out to ALL my friends and colleagues that did the same thing as you guys did.
As I said in my first post, Dennis and Shelia Perry are the ones that REALLY took a hit on all of this. I feel very sorry for them. Having personally helped Dan Scheid at his Extravaganza for the last four-five years,......... I have a newfound respect for what it takes these guys and their entire Staff to actually PUT ON one of these events! I can tell you that it is "mind boggling"
to see just how much work it takes. I think I can safely say that Dan and his entire Staff begin working on the following years event as soon as this years event is over. The logistics of it is really overwhelming. And unfortunately, it only takes the actions of a few to ruin it for true racers and enthusiasts like all of you guys who I respect and admire very much. Being a racer myself, and having driven as far as Denver, Colorado to drag race my 1996, I can definitely relate to the costs and logistics involved in attending events like these.

FWIW,.......I was told by one of the guys down at the T&S Event this morning that apparently the police did make two (2) arrests from the incident at Beech Bend sometime yesterday. I hope that is right. I hope they nail their hides to the wall!!!!!

Yeah there was guy's from canada that made a 4-day roadtrip to come drag race. Its truely sad that it got ruined by some idiots. I heard dennis was going to make them re-sod beech bend for there punishment. But it's all hear/say. I am glad they did make some arrests. It's a same and i was looking forward to the drag racing because there was indeed alot of drag trucks there. The pull was a muddy mess and they took alot off the track to get it half way decent. The pull was still very good to see some super nice trucks hooking to the sled. I still enjoyed it but it could have been better.

I wasnt able to make it this year due to graduations. I am almost thankful I didnt get to go. There are reports of thieves and mud being thrown everywhere in pits. There was no reports of stuff like this last year. Dennis and Sheila put on a good event but this year seems to have gotten out of control. Hopefully next year there will changes.

I agree about the alcohol thing. Make the events alcohol free and incidents like this may stop. Or maybe don't allow people to bring in there own; make them buy it for an inflated price like any other sporting event. If people want to get drunk, wait for the event to end and go to a bar.

when i pulled back in from the pulls at the campground the owner of the campground stepped out and shook his head at me as i drove past, those idiots gave us all a black eye and i just dont understand why anyone thinks its funny to tear someone elses land up. I looked forward to this for a year and they messed it all up plus it cost me a lot of money and time off work.

Your comments are appreciated. Since I started this site in 2001, it has become more and more difficult to police. Thank GOD for Lary and moderators here or otherwise this place would be in the same boat. A lot of the same guys doing the bashing are there for a reason, because they can't come here anymore. Some of them think we're ban happy. Not really, it's just a matter of if you don't play by the rules, you don't play here at DTR. It's sad to see that some events are going this way as well. It's the few that do these things that give us all a bad name, and it's sad. It seems that with every generation, there is less respect for elders, for property and the list goes on.

Same experience as everyone else. We drove over 4 hours with high hopes and expectations for our first big diesel event. We arrived at the race start time in total disappointment as trucks turning around everywhere on the entrance road with the occasional yell as they drove by...."the race is cancelled!" We drove inside anyway for the story above....a few idiots lacking self control had ruined it for many hard working diehard diesel fans that just wanted to race or be a spectator of an awesome event. Many a broken hearts and wallets of folks young and old whose tears filled the sled pull area full of more mud as we waited for hours to build-prep the track.
Unfortunately, at the sled pull event we did experience our own disappointment at the behavior of fans in several different groups around us. We felt this was not an event to bring my five year old son to. Alcohol seem to be the main contributing factor.
Lets clean this up folks...as individuals, this part is not the burden of our host. It is ours.
This was my own experience in a small part of the stands at the pulls. I'm not saying the whole event was this way, but the area i was in.
On another note.......Those high horsepower trucks were AWESOME!!!!!!!

I am saddened to see this happened. John I sent you a couple Pm's about Scheid from last year, and told you how I felt. Scheid was the biggest joke. Nothing but a bunch of drunks causing trouble in and around the place. I was embarrassed at how some people act. It was no place to bring a family to. Not like it once was. I sure hope things get done the right way before events cease to ever happen. Sorry to Dennis and Shelia. I hope they nail the idiots to the wall.

I almost decided to make a last-minute trip to Bowling Green; based on everything I've read that's been posted, I'm glad I didn't.

I'm all for an occasional cool adult beverage every now and then, but it seems as if there's a huge amount of people over indulging in alcohol that still have yet to get a grasp on the word moderation.......

Hey yall, I'm an occasional visitor here , spend most of my time on the ford websites. I have to agree with those of you already posting. No alcohol would be a good start.
Lots of good people were there, but ALOT of idiots. Mostly the younger crowd. I'd bet that google earth would show a big black spot over bowling green. There were a bunch of trucks drag racing up and down the main strip for hours.
I saw at least one bunch get pulled, probably for racing, as I rolled through a stop light and saw a cop sitting across the intersection , these two blew through the light rolling coal. I didnt even go to the dragstrip, before it got canceled. We at least got to go see the pulls. Late getting started, but there was a lot of rain that week.

Hate to see this kinda stuff happen, but a few dummies ruin it for all of us.

Nail em to the wall. They should not pass go, not collect $200, and go directly to jail for tearing up the property!

When I first went to the Muncie event, I told someone that I was in the younger 3rd of the group. Now I am in the older 3rd. The guys are younger and can't do anything with responsibilty.
So dissapointing. Ruin it all for STUPID tricks.
They need to bust them, impound the trucks they are driving for a week.
We had a lot of fun, no one was drunk and driving, no one was hurt, and you could bring the family.
