Ok.. Idea's for weight classes...
7500lbs and 8500lbs??? I don't know what at 4dr truck weighs.. I know some classes are pulling 8000lbs... A 4rd Ford's probably about the heaviest.. or a Mega cab??? Maybe 7500lbs and 8000lbs??? I'll have to measure the scales, and see if a 4dr truck will fit on the scales... I'll at least weigh my truck next pull...
Use what ever DHRA is using for hitch height.. I believe that is 26ins to the hooking point..

sounds like a start, i can call scot(dieseljunkie) he is marks(the guy that runs the sled) daughters boyfriend and have him get in touch with one of yall if he dosent log back on in here, he aint in here much. so yall can work out the details, i dont know much about it ive only pulled 4 times with a truk.ill just be their to brake stuff, its what i do

I think it would a lot easier to just go by their rulebook and print some out and hand them out at the pull with the dhra's consent of course.

Yes, handing out a few sets of rules would be good..
I think the issue right now would be the fact that there's not enough trucks for one class.. haha.. (We run into that with the tractors.. too many classes) but if we hand out the rules.. and say.. starting Jan 07.. these are the rule we are going to pull by... The DHRA rules are good.. and it would be best to adopt rules, instead of reinventing the wheel.. The other reason I mentioned the DHRA rules was because of the Finals in Houston possibly having a sled pull this year.
The other issue when setting rules, is then we will need a Tech committee, or people to Tech the trucks... Weight, and hitch height is no problem.. but checking turbo size.. checking for NOS, Meth..
Safety is going to be the main issue.. No one running anything SFI (at least not yet.) no Loops.. at least one seems to be carried way with the RPM's.. yet...
I was just thinking that two weight classes, and hitch height.. (and maybe the limit on how far out the front the weights can be placed..) would be a start.

i would suggest you keep it very simple on the rules, a max weight of 9k, single turbo for 1 class, 2 power adders or more in the open class. this will let some of the dmaxs and fords that like to spray come and play, and a place for twinned trucks. call one class street and the other open.

Yes, Mike two classes would be best... If there were enough trucks to start splitting the classes... On the weight just trying to find a happy medium, between a Regular cabbed 1st gen... and 4dr Ford with a fuel tank, and Western hauler bed... Just don't want someone with a 1st Gen to have to add 3000lbs lbs to compete, but if that's the way it is.. that way it will be...

yeah i guess i was gettin a little excited...
but you are right we do need to hand out some rules for next year, and two classes would be great for this season,
and about how far out were you thinkin of limiting the weights cuz i was gonna try to start fabbing up a weight rack this weekend. just wanderin....

From the DHRA rulebook.. out of the Hot "Street Diesel" class rules... the class below this does not allow front weights.. but weights can be added in the bed..
REGULATIONS
Ballast:
Ballast is permitted. Hanging weights may not extend more than 60 inches from the centerline of
the front axle.

well hopefully my truck will qualify for street diesel before next year.
or I could always make a front replacement and fill the pipes full of concrete.

Yea.. but in Stephenville you should have much problem finding something to lift it out of the truck... Sounds like you should put it on a trailer before you go to Charlies.. and drag racing....

ya i have no problem taking it out they just wanted some stuff welded there, at home i can take it out any time , and i was wondering if u do any bussince at the john deere house in stephenville , my grandpa owns it
