Need Suggestions on Mods
Hey hows it going? I have a 2004.5 dodge 3500 srw 6 speed 4x4 cummins. Its a quad cab short bed. I am wanting to build a truck that is a streetable but could put up some game as a truck puller/drag racer. I would like to do both with the truck. Not very intensly but just every once in a while. The mods I have right now are a quadzilla x2, a whillies whistler, an airdog 150, and some flux 2's. I will be putting a southbend 3600dd in it in a few weeks, guages, and some nitto terra grappler tires. I plan on either selling the quad and adding a smarty or stacking the smarty with the quad. I am not a big fan of quad so I would much rather get rid of it but we will see what you guys reccomend. In the end I would like to make about 600 hp and make a good all around truck puller/dragracer. I plan on building myself my own traction bars. What do you guys recommend to meet my goals. I woudl also like a turbo. I am not sure which size would work great for both of the pulling and racing. Any and all info will be greatly appreciate. Thanks guys.

On the turbo those are good deminsion listed but you have to look at what the class rules are on the turbo. I can't speak to drag racing but most pulling classes are Stock Turbo, 2.4, 2.6, 2.8, 3.0. This is referring to the inside diameter of the turbo's inducer bore. Some groups take a step further and also want to ensure the wheel in the turbo is native and some just care about the bore. So I would suggest looking at the classes you want to run and their rules, then make your decision from there. 2.8 and 3.0 trucks are not something you would want to run on the street. The 2 turbo sizes listed above will put you in the 2.6 class.
I have a SBC3600 and while I don't hate the clutch it has made the truck PIA to shift some times and back up my RV. Holds good for my uses but I have heard that model doesn't hold up well to sled pulling and due to the slow shifts it causes I wouldn't drag it unless you want to replace syncro's.
Good luck on what ever you deciede to do. Just remember it addictive!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You have to give up one ability for another, When you build a pulling truck, you need a clutch that can hold up to the abuse, while shifting is not really a priority in sled pulling, it is in drag racing, and it is hard to find a "Best in Both worlds" Clutch...
You can have a clutch that will be good for pulling, but wont be good for drag racing, and you can have a great drag racing clutch, but it wont be good for sled pulling.
