link to video: tractor warm up in the pits
In the past summer I attended tractor pulling season's closure event here in Finland. A buddy of mine had a videocamera with him. He recorded very good material in the service pit area.
I finally managed to get a hold of the tape and made a short 2min 40sec clip of the tractor warm up session. Size of the clip is 120meg.
I have seen my share of lame, and bad quality videos hosted in the net. I have made my best attempt at editing the crap out of the source material, and retaining the entertaining bits for you folks to see, with a fair picture resolution/size.
It took me over an hour to upload this video. It may well take same amount time for you to download it.
Initially 'tractor warm up' does not sound appealing. However, I beg to differ.
Here is the homepage of the tractor & crew who put up the show on this video.

This is the very first time I am using this file hosting service. I hope I have uploaded the video correctly, so you folks are able to download it normally.

For playing back any video, I use 'REAL PLAYER'. I tried to play back this video with a Windows Media Player, but it had a snag. Well.. that was the reason I moved over to using Real Player in the first place.
Windows Media Player should play this video just fine for those who have had no hick ups with that player.
I have used plain old regular MPEG2 decoding in the making of this short clip.
Real Player main web site seems to work okay as I write this, but their link to the free version of the REAL PLAYER is not working. Here is an alternative site for those who wanna have a go with Real Player:

Please leave a comment here in this thread for others to see. It will determine to a large degree whether others wish to go through the pain of lenghty file download.
Please enjoy - I did

I'll reply while I'm downloading.
We use SisuDiesel engines in our new tractors, and I've been to the factory over in Finland. Talk about cool Never saw a robot put on piston rings before!
While I was there, they were telling us about their tractor pulling engines, the base engine being a 7.4L, 451 CID engine. They turn it to 6800RPM, like the site says, on the stock crank and rods, same as we use in a 200hp farm tractor, which I thought was pretty cool. Although they told us they were making about 2500hp, not 2100 as the site says. I don't know which is correct!
Just a little addition to the thread!
Chris
EDIT: Saw the video! Cool, like the fireballs Do you have any footage of a pull??

That was a GOOD track, someone knew what they were doing when they built that one! Those tractors were getting tons of traction...which is probably why quite a few of them couldn't get it running right! It take a lot of power to get on top the charger on a track like that!

I'll have to find a better clip... that track was really tacky.. that class is limited to 510cid.. So they have to keep the rpms up.. if they don't.. the fall on their face.. the US tractor have more cubes.. and have a broader range of HP...

I think its the small cubes.. they turn them faster..
