Lets talk BIG P7100 Injection pumps..

Curiosity is gettin the best of me here

even tho i have no desire for an all out power truck well into the 700-800 horse range, im wonderin what the deal is with these super high flowing injection pumps..

What exactly is changed out to make them flow say about 1000 ccs of fuel or more? I know its alot of smoke that they produce, are these things even streetable at those high levels?

Is there a formula of some sorts, IE lets say a 400CC pump can get you into the 600 horse range? or how do they determine how many CCs u need for a particular power level? or is that just too big an agenda to answer...

Do all pumps run 100 plates or 0 plates? or do they run custom cam plates to put out massive CC's of fuel.

balancing and calibration, are they of utmost importance for these pumps? Or what is it that keeps them running like tops?

Timingwise, how high do you go? or can you go before they get hard to start, over 20 degrees im certain

Are dual lift pumps or custom lift pumps, or FASS's needed to run these things in conjunction with huge injectors and massive turbos?

Finally, what is the largest reccomended "totally streetable" Pump out there?

At most ill probably calibrate my P7100 at some point in time, but my truck still has roots as a towing machine with the ability to pound ricers, and nothing more..

Thank you fellas!

Rick

bigger barrels/plungers, bigger cam, big DV's/holders/lines, lots of rack travel, no plate

typically an 13mm pump with a custom grind cam custom dv's ect can make from 800-1000 cc's. a truck running a pump like that may even have a agricultural governer assembly. timing in the mid 30's and 5000+ rpm

Forrest is correct. you can play with the cam inside the P pump, bigger lines, cut delivery valves, etc, etc. nothing like mechanical fuel injection! I have heard that the serious 12 valves run their timing 30+, but on the pulling trucks, who knows.

I am sure that they have a serious fuel system feeding the FASS or equivalent, but at what PSI, I dont know

hope this helps

i setup my buddies p-pumped 24v, it has a 215 with flat top plungers and makes 585cc's. I set the timing at 33* and it gets driven every day and hauls heavy grain carts in the corn fields.

How do you figure out the displacement of the pump, and over what duration is the 585cc produced? Is it per revolution of the pump?

Sorry for the hi jack.

a bench measures the cc's the numbers come up on a computer screen, it has lines and nozzels and some how the computer measures the output possibly on weight. however some of the old machines have viles for each barrel that are filled. This bench had stock size lines and nozzels, but you have to be careful, some people can claim big numbers from a pump but if it is being measured with oversize lines and nozzels then the numbers are not true the standard of measure others are using.

The pump is running flat top plungers and 21mm rack with full cut dv's
