Launching with boost?

I have read a few different post on here about guys launch @ 20+ pounds of boost at the strip. I remember reading about one guy launching @ 35psi in 3rd gear and blew his transfercase apart How the heck can you launch with boost with a manual trans.? I've tried an I cant get anything

35 lbs. will also twist the output out of the overdrive unit. I can vouch for that.

Slip my clutch all the time, usually between 25-35psi, drag racing is where i usally like doing it, or if i want to do one h-ll of a burnout and hit the brakes real quick, i wouldnt do it unless you had a dual disk clutch.

Hey, I think most of us have been to tractor pulls & I'm not talking antique or a farm pull. Talking about the Pro-Stock & Super Stock guys. The only clutch they got is a slider. You know, the clutch that has wieghts on it & disengages if you are above so many rpms.. If you put one of those in there, I'm sure you can make it work. Not sure how you would set it up. Just a thought

How do you slip the clutch, build boost w/ foot on brake, and control fuel in a man.?

Very simple, select a gear (best ive been able to do so far is 3rd) rev engine to 3xxx rpm slowly start to slip the clutch, at about 30psi ill let the clutch go then grab the brakes real fast, its very cool, but it does take some pratice, i killed it first 3 times i tried this. (Again did i mention DO NOT TRY THIS WITHOUT A DUAL DISK! if you do you might not be able to smell the tire smoke over the clutch smoking )

That is what kind of clutch I have. At a certian RPM it fully locks and wont slip at all untill i let off the loud pedal. Basicaly set up for pulling but it is a single disk.

I've never built boost like that. And a dual disc, you gotta be kidding.

Anyway , to build boost with a straight shifter, your right heel is used on the brake, and the toe, or forward part of the foot on the accelerator. Use just enough brake to hold the truck and build boost. As they say, you have to slip the clutch, creep into the lights and build to 20 lbs. When your last yellow comes on, stab the go petal, and your foot will come off the brake and the left will remove itself from the clutch. Away you go.

Now go do it.

ive draged raced a couple times on the street where there is no tree to go by, and I can easily tag 30psi without touching the brake but i might move half a foot so i guess that would be enough to get the red lights unless i staged back?

I just hold the brake with my left foot and press the accelerator with my right foot. When the light goes green I remove my left foot. Very simple actually.
