How bad am I gonna lose

My buddy and I were sitting in physics today talking bout racing and trucks and what not (hey that's physics, right?) and we started bout mine. I told him what I had and he was impressed and wants to run me. He's got a new Dodge Ram 1500 Crew cab 2wd daytona edition. Very pretty truck. I know he's got nitrous on it and he said the last time he dynoed he was at 450hp. Now I know I'm running at least that kinda power if not a hair over once the trans is built. So boys being boys we decide we wanna race. Stupid move on my part but oh well. I'd like to see where I stand. So how bad do yall think I'm gonna lose? He mentioned something about a supercharger but I'm not sure. I have a feeling that he's gonna hose me pretty darn good. What do yall think?

Don't want to but may have to. I'm not doing any fancy billet shafts at this point in time. All I know is that with a 4psi launch on my stock tranny I can light the rears up for about 6-10ft.

Well you launch in four and you could be right there, and look at the bright side it is alot eaiser to afford a tranny when your other one dosen't work.

1.There is a considerable weight difference here!

2.You have 4x4! But if he can hook up .............if he does a burn out with stock street rubber you may have him as it does nothing but make street rubber slippery! Off the line is yours!

3. His truck runs 15's from the factory and at best low 13's unless he has done suspension work to enhance traction.

4. Let him stage first..........have your boost built as you stage late.

5. Show him your tailgate!

I honestly don't know what he's got in it other than nitrous and possibly a blower. With a blower and nitrous, if he hooks off the line I'm toast. There's no way I can over come that sorta weight disadvantage. I'll talk to him again on friday and see what the deal is. I know I'm headed to the track I think around the 4th of november to see what this baby will do.

The mention of Supercharger is a big deal if he has one. I have been running a Rumble Bee with about the same setup as a Daytona. With Nitrous he has broke into the 12s, just not far enough to beat me yet, but I do have to give it everything I have to beat him.

With a Supercharger and Nitrous could be a low 12s truck.

If he is running a supercharger and Nitrous, he has had to have some kind of work done to the heads to keep from blowing the gaskets, and the bottom end to keep it form flying apar, right???

Well you would think so, but no head work does not stop you from bolting the supercharger on and adding the Nitrous kit. It should shorten the life span of the engine though.

Depending on the type of supercharger he is running ( roots or centrifical ). he may be using the nitrous to get off the line until the boost comes up. Or he could be using the nitrous for cooling the boost with a small shot. Or he could be going all out with lots of boost and nitrous.

With a good tranny I would think you're truck will pick up some useable power. With a 4 wheel launch I think the race will be closer than most are predicting. Unless the guy is really good at launching.

The quickest hemi times I've seen on the internet were mid 12s and these guys were running nitrous, superchips, slicks, headers, 6.1 cams, converters, gears and they are usually running a dump tube and have removed any weight they can from their trucks. The basically stock Hemi trucks with nitrous and exhaust are only in the 13.3 to 13.6 range if they can hook. Plus they tend to eat the 5 speed auto transmissions. I did see that Suncoast is trying to work on that though.

do it do it! everyone is going to get beat sometime, don't worry about it, if he does win, im sure you will be giving him a good run, and you can laugh because your truck will still be chugging around at 400k miles.

Blue, you are going to the trouble of the transmission without billet shafts???? What are you thinking? You don't want to pay to do this twice!!! I am not trying to be ugly----but.............. . Just think, if you break the input--you could destroy the converter. Best case you snap the output, but you still have to drop the transfercase to get to the OD section.

Just food for thought pal-I know they are expensive, but I would hate to see you pull the "new" tranny in a couple of weeks when a shaft fails!!

I think it will be a close race. You won't be in the 13's unless you can launch in 4 wheel drive with a good 15 lbs of boost. JMHO Of course the output shaft is at risk at that point.
