Help me decide guys

Nothing is set in stone yet so I can't mention any names or anything particular but a group I have been doing business with for years now came to me today with a good sponsorship offer. The group they were working with had a mutual falling out of sorts so they are looking somewhere else to place their money. Said Group is into drag racing so they want to stick with that. they have however given me a free hand with what I want to run if I go into this agreement. I'm thinking diesel.
So my question to you guys is should I build a fire breathing 4x or 2x truck or cram a cummins into something like a 55chevy, or just stick with a gaser big block? I'm thinking along the lines of lowered 4x4 p pumped 24vlv but I'm partial. Let me know what ya think and/or if I should bother at all.

Although the feel/sound of a big block is awesome, there are too many fast cars out there to compete. I think your sponsor would be more impressed if you go out there & beat the gassers on #2. A 55 chevy/Cummins would be awesome, but I would go with a short bed single cab pickup with as much meat as you can squeeze out back. Of couse the 12v version would be your best bet.

I thought about the short bed 12vlv. I have a old 12vlv out back that would make a good shortblock.
