Post Field Days Of The Past, Sept 15-17th, Rockville, Va. (Pull)

The Field Days Of The Past event is happening this weekend. Sorry such short notice, but I forgot to post about it.
There will all sorts of family type events, which you can see more on at http://www.fielddayofthepast.net

The truck part is the sled pulling, which takes place at 7PM on Friday night, and after the tractor pulls on Saturday night.
There are 2 classes, Gas and Diesel. This isn't a sanctioned event so the rules are a bit looser, and different. I have been told that they want to hook point around 20-22". I'm gonna see how high I can get away with.
If you want to watch the tractor pulls, they are Saturday afternoon and Sunday afternoon.

The web site above gives directions, but it is about 15 miles West of Richmond.

Not a bad first day, first pull ever, for me. 275.31' and second place. Another Dodge took first.
I'll be there Saturday to see if I can take first place.

I missed your run. I got there around 8 and the first truck I saw pull was a lifted ford that broke free from the sled at the end of the pull.

Good luck!

Unhappy

Glad you didn't make it tonight. I took third, but at the expense of my rear pinion.
1. 97 Ram 2500, 351.8'
2. 2001 Ram 3500, 315.2'
3. 99 Ram 2500, 290.85' (Me)
4. 2001 F250, 273.93'
5. 2001 Ram 2500, 257.04'

I managed to prop up the Cummins in the top 3 spots. That may make it worth a pinion....

Sorry, I screwed up the year on that one. It was a 2001 silver dually, out of Winchester, Va., named Jeremy. Guy tells me he has a single turbo, a PM3 Comp, and EGTs in the 1800 range. I could only say . He was being kind of tight-lipped about everything he had. His air filter was clamped to a pipe that stuck out of the hoods at a 45 degree angle.
I don't know what the 97 had, as I was unable to get a conversation with him. All I know is he had a huge Donaldson air filter housing, like you see mounted vertically on the right side of a Peterbuilt, mounted horizontally under the center of the front bumper. I wonder how much that improved his air flow.
I'll check around and see if anyone got pics of it. I have some video, as soon as I can get it from my friend.
Pics of the pinion in my truck coming up soon.

OUCH!
Sorry I couldn't make it Chris, but then again,,,, I hate to see anyone break their truck. Still sounds like you did pretty good for a first timer. Does this mean you're hooked,,,,,, (pun intended)?

I'm likin' the pulling. There's not much purse. This one was trophies only, and
I understand when they do have a purse it isn't much, won't even cover fuel to get there. Ther other unfortunate part is they tell me my short bed is handicapping me, because I don't have a much leverage. This may mean I can never pull as far as a long bed.
I do like at least getting shutting out the other brands, and bragging rights, but if they saw me pull I don't even need to brag. There were several people there from where I work last night, and I know it will be circulating around the building on Monday, so that will be an ego boost as it gets back to me.
If the plan goes right, I will get a new gear set and ladder bars overnighted to me, and get it fixed Wednesday, then maybe go to the next pull in Millers Tavern, Va. next weekend. (I'll make a thread on it)
We'll see though.

OK, I'm pretty tickled right now. I pulled it down and found the gears look perfect. Turns out the left axle is broken, right at the carrier. I guess I'm gonna have to pull the carrier to get the stub out though.
The good news is I still have the D70 with the open diff I pull out of it, and gee, two axles sitting right there in the back yard. Yippeee!

Hey I took some pics of the intake and hitch with my camera phone I'll have to see about getting them converted. It looks like axle shafts are only 100 bucks from Randys. It was a nice looking pull last night to bad the camcorder operator was an idiot

Who me? I just had fun shutting the other brands out.
Then again, I'm taking ladder bar recommendations....

Well for around the 500 mark. Get ahold of Darry'ls diesel depot in Michigan. He has a nice bolt on set.

Enterprise engine also has a set in the 800 area that are 4 link good up to the 1000hp area.

Those are the only 2 I would consider.
