Dyno Results.

On the dyno today a funny thing happened. I made more HP with my stock ECM VS. a Catcher ECM.

With the Catcher...521HP 963TQ.

With the stock ECM...531HP 977TQ.

Comments?

Either way I see your truck has another major problem.

It's actually pretty common. I lost a few HP with the smarty also.

Nice HP numbers, but it seems like the TQ numbers are kind of low?

I dynoed today also with Nospin, sorry I didnt get any before #s ,but pulled my reflashed with #9 catcher and installed a van -aaken that is as old as dirt, with TST and on level 3 did 421hp, on level 5 did 485hp/982, on 7 did 496hp/989tq, the truck pulls harder with the stock ecm and barely smokes, my buds 2000 did 415 and no tq reading with the same setup as mine except he has a smarty set on 5, he tried a few more settings and lost a lil hp, we then pulled the smarty and installed a new van aaken and he did 465 with cooler temps and less smoke. I still like the driveability of the Catcher, but im gonna run this setup for awhile.

How can the Smarty produce less power than the stock program?

The smarty is all about driveability, better throttle respones ect. I have read a few times that when trucks start making big hp, close to 500, that the smarty will actually hurt the numbers rather then help them. I wish that i had a stock ecm to run in my truck and see what difference there would have been. I dynoed 526hp (549 uncorrected) and 999 ftlbs on #2 only, this was with the edge comp box for timing and the TST comp box for fueling. I made 3 more pulls with the the edge drag comp box for fueling and timing and the numbers were slightly lower 523 hp and 942 ftlbs. I had a couple of torque readings, one was 1215 ftlbs and the other was 1170ftlbs, but by looking at the chart, it seemed like they might have been spikes, but i am not positive, they were back to back readings.

What about running the smarty on somethin like #3 or #4 if you stack with the edge???

It seems that great drivabilty isn't from horsepower.

Running number 3 works for me. I started a thread about my findings not long ago. I went from running 13.4 to 13.1 going from the higher Smarty settings to number 3. I also gained about 3 mph through the traps.
