Can it be done? 400 RWHP and i need some advise

Guys

im workin my courage to get back on the dyno once again. Last time i had the exact same mods in my sig, and was severely disappointed, except i had stock DV's a stock clutch, 1/2 starwheel, and 2/3 forward fuel plate.

I do not want to be disappointed in gettin on the dyno again, seeing as the mods that i have should put me in the 400 rwhp range or so.

How much should i expect to gain with a good clutch? what is the best strategy for Max power? what gear should i dyno in? I need all advice before i dyno next friday. I need all help to ease possible dissapointment once again. I know dynos are heartbreakers as well

But im gonna guess at my rwhp to be at 375 on the conservative side. I know that i need air.

Here is what i see

Boost Max 40 psi
air filter: K&N (will install again for consistency)
EGT max 1500 plus (pegged pyro)
Timing 16.5 degrees
DV's 181's (will resintall for consisteny again)
Clutch: Valair INc 3200 lbs heavy duty
Wastegate: blocked off
Plate: full forward
Starwheel: full forward

Well guys, will i make it? what do yall think? IF not will i make it with some laser cuts? I know its too much fuel and i know my turbo is now my huge limiter....

What are yalls estimates? Im curious...

Thanks!

Rick

Try unblocking the wastegate.

Well, yeah... I think you can get there.

See below for mods. Running #10 plate about 1/8" from full forward, adjust star wheel till it just barely smokes when punching it in neutral from an idle. Stock injection, stock turbo & Scheids DVs from Bobcat.

Hmmm

i guess it can be done, But i think i will probably dyno higher with stock sticks and Big DV's than I will with my current setup, im not too fond of those 370s one bit, But anyways it leads me to my next question...

what is the best way to approach this? i think that punching it from 1500 rpms isnt the best way to go, and I will let off at about 3300 rpms or so due to no valve springs, and cause i now my egts will be too hott...

is it best to just roll into it then hit it when i know that the boost will come on? i need help here

Pourin,

i also understand that cooler air makes more HP than hot air, But is that extra air from a blocked gate gonna really hurt my power that bad?

Thanks guys! Keep the advise comin!

I tromp the pedal at 1200RPM, and wrap it out to 3200!!

400hp?? I think you need more air! Wastegate the charger at 35-38psi! It will help keep the engine from "choking" and free up a couple HP up top!

Stock charger should have no troble spooling, I'd say lug it to 1000RPM!!

Been too long since I messed with a stock charger

I don't know that you'll get 400rwhp without a bigger turbo. It will be a restriction.

IIRC, Chris Harlan on the TDR put down 425 to the ground with his truck. 215 truck with just a 10 plate, 191dv, PDR 40/16, stock injectors, 16* timing.

Dumb question

but how do i adjust my gate? i know its either plugged or not.. Im not worried bout this, cause twins are in the works for air, just wanna see what i can get out of this new clutch and if im at or how close to 400 rwhp I am...

thanks

A boost elbow oughta do the trick. I think piers sells them for like $20 and it's adjustable. Do a search on here for MBC.

I think you'll be close to 400. I'm gonna guess 398. Just remember to turn your AC off.
