aurora 5000 Install ?

anyone who has installed one of these on a 98.5-02. They say this is a bolt on kit and right from opening the box I could see it didn't fit the HX40 down pipe.

So far I have had to machine down the exhaust housing to fit the down pipe, cut one of the heater pipes for more clearance, and now the cold air pipe to the inter cooler is to long. also noted but not yet addressed are the oil feed line, they send an 1/8" fitting to use and you plug the existing feed hole but guess what the plug is the wrong size. the oil drain tube will not fit it hits the compressor housing no mater how you clock it, I figure to cut it short and get a longer hose. and I haven't even looked into the air filter yet or the crappy looking 5x4 ell that came with it.

All these things considered I will get it on there, but how the heck can they sell it as a bolt on kit? and man this thing was expensive, I hope it really will make a lot of power and not just fall on its face.

Man that sounds like a lot of work. I hope it does make some power too.

Good Luck

I know TRE diesel has installed several on the 03 up trucks and didn't mention any issues, what problems did you in counter? I am worried about keeping this thing spooled with the VP pump.

they could have sent you a different piece to fit on the 5000 that would fit exactly to your hx40 down pipe as i have a 40 down pipe as well.the one that cam was a good 3/8s to big,i called em and they h=shipped me one out.i had to move some electronics by the left side battery but other than that it was a smooth install

a5000

i had some of the same issues called them and they set out the right pieces. goodluck with the a5000 i sent mine back 3 different times with #3 being the last and demanded my money back. i snapped them like toothpicks because of the size of the shaft and getting out of the throttle to quick barking the turbo.

If I had to guess I would say it was for an 03, but the box and part# say it is right. we did finally get back with them and they sent another exhaust ring for the HX40, but naturally it was the same as the one that came on it that like someone said is about 3/8" to big and thick. I just chucked it in the lathe and cut it down to fit, I will make it work because I don't want to spend the rest of my life on the phone or sending stuff back and forth. but in no way shape or form could you call this a bolt on deal, If you sell it to a guy with basic tools he will be in trouble.

are you still using a VP or is that beast P-pumped? it sounds like a real bad truck, you should post some pics. how did you get the injector lines to work with the twin ram?
