Anyone seen Doug Doring's new drag car? If you dont know who he is, he had a 6v-53 detroit diesel in a chevy drag truck that ran low 9's in the 1/4 way back years ago....... This is his new toy, I dont know what he has run with it yet, but it is pretty sweet.

Why kind of engine is that and how is the exhaust routed?

It is a 6v-53 Detroit Diesel..... One of those old two stroke deals... It has twin turbo's a supercharger ( part of the two stroke design ) and when the motor was in the truck it had nitrous.... I will have to see if I can find some clips somewhere, but it sounds way different than anything else out there. Exhaust comes from each side, three ports per turbo, then from the turbos into the supercharger. If I remember right, the engine made around 900 horsepower when it was in the truck. The truck weighed around 3900lbs, and ran 9.30's at over 140mph. Trans was a lenco at the time...

Hey gt diesel where do you hail from? Reason I ask is I had a white 2nd gen with got diesel on his licence plate I believe from washington pass me on I-5 last week.

 

i have no way of getting it off my video camerea but i saw it run in crofton, md back in may. it lopes like a serious race car and when he idles it up the staging lanes etc the whole car shakes back and forth. if im not mistaken it was ripping off low 9's the day i saw it run...its crazy!!!
