Anyone have any experience With the built vp44's Stage 2

I have a truck with the stage 2 pump. i have a redline, edge, 370 injectors and big lines, with a billet head. The truck is a 6 spd. I can only get 4000 rpms with the unlimited rpm progams. going down the track i can only get 2800. Im running 2nd high with 3.55 gears. Does anyone know how to get more rpms not only free reving but also going down the track. do i need a cam. the truck pulls down hard in the begining and hard at the end how can i hold the rpms better as well. Any help at all would be appreciated.

thats to much gear, im not sure how 2nd in a 6 speed compares to 2nd in a 5 speed, but 2nd hi in our truck with a 5 speed and 4:10 gears results in a 12.4 final drive ratio and the ideal ratio is about 15 but 3rd low is an 18 and its to slow. The truck always chokes at the end in second, it spins out in third but isn't loaded hard enough. In standford we ran both it only carried about 2500 in 2nd hi and in 3rd low it carried 4200 and went about 20ft further

the motor is just luggin to hard. if its got the rpm run the next gear down and let it spin (probably 4th low)

Try using 24 valve injectors it might work better.

Show us pictures of your billet head.

Sounds like you got wayyyyyy too much fuel for what air your running.
Time to step up to the big boy class. Not enough air to carry rpm's on the big end basically.

Ive tried everything from a pro 52 to a custom built shied 2.8 charger. Both run good down the trackbut it lost rpms at the end, and choked out. The best running charger i have run is this switzer. Would a cam help hold the rpms better under a hard load.

So are you wanting to run 2.8 class or 2.5 class?
If the answer is the 2.8 class you could probably use a cam but really you need to find out why your snuffing out.
I only have experience helping build up one VP44 puller locally and it runs real well with an Aurora 5000 from ATS diesel.
It seems however the VP trucks are a little finicky when it comes to the right pulling injector. We had good luck with sticks from Darryl Poole but they are not meant for the street because of durability issues with the tips.

Another issue you might be running into is your gear selection, tires, setup etc.

ive seen you pull, and pulled against you and your having the same problem were having. incorrect final drive. drop to 4th low and see how it does

unfortunately for us threr is not correct final drive in a 5speed truck with 4:10's

either 18 in 3rd low or 12 in 2nd high 15 is where it needs to be in a motor with the ability to turn some rpms

sorry 3rd gen guys (they go by different rules as far as final drive is concernd) aka 5th low brutalize the clutch

I have a 95 gph fass system feeding it. As for the tires i have 33" bfgs. i tried dropping to 4th low and it pulled better but the sled was dropping the spikes 2/3 of the way down so no one could get any speed up. On any other track 4th low does good but i cant build enough rpms to gain any speed. Roughly 3000 to 3300 is it.
