I have a 1984 dodge (mitsubishi) d50 that came with the 2.3 diesel engine that i want to make into an wheelin' truck. Well, the engine is shot and I plan to replace it with a 4bt out of a step van, with a nv4500 and a np205 behind it. I was wondering what reccomendations anybody had for what type of axles i should use, i was thinking dana 60's or some type of toyota axles.



93 Dodge Cummins, beefed up 727 auto, bosch 215's, turbo upgrade, banks intercooler, banks gauges, fuel screw 1.5 turns past stock, prospector A/T LT285/75R16

 

I'm no expert but a 60 front and rear would be good for that torquey, little, heavy motor, but you could probably get by with a 44 up front. I think you don't want to be undergunned if you plan to wheel it hard with the torque of that diesel. My .02.
