Ummm no. They're the same engines, just detuned slightly in the SO for the automatics and (rare) 5 speeds. Many say that when you get to a certain point in modding that they even out.

 

best combo seems to be:

scary larry,flux 4 or 5's,studs,a5k,walbro,tuff tranny,twins ppe cp3's,pressure box and a spare engine

congratulations on busting a 1k hp.

 

both of my trucks started out with California 235 HP. Its easier to make power up to 500HP with the 04.5-07 325 HP engines, but over 600 HP i like the 03-04 trucks because they seems to be more driveable. As far as 235, 250, and 305,I don't think theres much difference on which one can make more power

Sorry...didn't know I directed that at anyone! Dockboy makes good power, and 596/1200+ is pretty good too...but since this is a thread about a 1009 HP Cummins, it's not good enough!

I'll never "knock" anyone making over 500hp with a 7.3L...it takes a lot of know how to get there, and a lot of money to make thing live and work the way they're supposed to!

Maybe I should clarify my statement...Only the guys who drive Ford and don't know how to make big power use propane!

Either way, I should be running close to your times by late summer

it is funny people dont even look twice at 596 anymore. i remember in 2001 someone made 480 at a dyno day and everyone was in awe. this guy blew enough smoke to fill up an entire shop with black smoke.

the new number that is impressive is probably around the 650 mark.

off course now we can take a truck bolt parts on and make 800hp.

$2500 CP3's+ $5500 tranny+$1200 dons sticks+$400 lift pump+ $2000 turbo+ $600 studs+$ 400 manifold+ $350 exhaust+$1000 programmer + $400 gauges plus I would suggest a spare engine at this level.

anywhere from 14-17K depending cam,springs,water,nitro and how much you install youself. that is pretty cheap for high 11 low 12 second daily driver. all of these parts take no special skill to install except for the tranny.

this is a great sport keep up the good work don and others

Hey buddy, I sure didn't take your previous post as "knocking anyone either! I guess "lukecline" did though.

Like you Chris, I am not going to get involved in the "brand war" thing either
because I have alot of friends coast-to-coast that drive all three brands of diesel trucks. The comraderie is what is important.

To add to what you said, David Lott @ "Diesel Innovations" is putting down some pretty impressive numbers with his Ford PSD's too. At the "ATS Truckfest" in Denver, Colorado last year I watched him click off an 11.2 at over 120 MPH in his Ford PSD and that was at over 6,000 feet of elevation.
He isn't using propane either!

Kale Thompson is clicking off 11.60s with a 4X4 7.3 Powerstroke on radials and is also supposed to be diesel only. I'd say he has an impressive dyno number somewhere near 700 maybe.

 

Forgot about Lott and Snow White...not only does he have an exceptionally good running Ford, he's an excellent bench racer from what I can see too

The only reason I said what I said was that in this area, everyone wants to know if I run propane...and guess who asks 98% of the time, a Ford owner! I guess it's TV's fault...they're the ones pushing the propane so much, those armchair mechanics think it's the greatest thing ever!
