Want to increase performance for my CAT 3126E in an RV
Can anyone give any real life experiences with trying to boost a CAT 3126E in an RV? I have a 2004 Fleetwood Discovery RV that I would like to have a little better throttle response when at highway speeds during windy conditions and semi step grades. I find it at hard times that trying to hold 60-65 MPH during those conditions and it is close to impossible even when putting the pedal to the floor almost seems as if it slows and does not increase speeds. The unit only has 20K miles and has been regularly serviced as well as new fuel, air and oil filters. I have looked all over for anyone who has installed either a EDGE EZ CAT Module, Dr Performance Module, PE-12M CAT Module, or any other type of plug in module that gave some performance gains. I am not looking for a miracle but also do not want to shell out $500-$800 dollars for a plug on module that does absolutely nothing. Please respond if you have installed any type of module on a CAT 3126E and what advantages you feel you gained. It is a 3126E turbocharged, aftercooled, 7.2L electronic diesel, 330 HP @ 2400 RPM, 800 lb ft @ 1440 RPM with a Allison 3000 MH six speed automatic lock up.

have you tried contacting your local Cat dealership? Give them the complete serial # on the engine and ask them to do a re-rate request estimate. A good Cat dealer can do this F.O.C. and can give you a complete quote. Typically, you will pay approx. $450 for a re-rate. About the average cost of a decent programmer.
The little 3126 in an industrial application is capable of making 500hp... So getting a 30-40 hp bump isnt that big of a deal.
Be careful of modules that simply keep the IAPCV spooled up all the time, it will only wear out the pump and injectors quicker.
One thing should be noted..... If you apply more hp/torque you could possibly overpower the cooling capacity of the transmission and cause futher expenses down the road... when in doubt add gauges to monitor..

Correct me if i'm wrong but I think that is the highest rating for a 3126e. I know on the big cats they do something with the fuel temp harness but I don't know all the details.

I have seen them in industrial and marine applications that are creeping up on 500 hp.
hhhmm.. fuel temp is just an "ok, not ok" sensor that if goes higher than the threshold, can either (1) do nothing, (2) warn, or (3) derate the engine... So Im not sure what thats about.. interesting!!!..
