That was my experience with Flying J fuel. It was cheaper, but I never got the same mileage out of it. I have been filling up at Fas Gas in Devon most of the year and have gotten good mileage out of them. I used to fill up at Extra Foods in Airdrie all the time, usually cheaper fuel prices and still good quality, but are among the highest in town, and now charge a dollar to use the air compressor, and they have cut their hours, so I avoid them now.

Centex usually runs a couple cents cheaper than huskey/mohawk/petro canada, and on wednesdays and weekends its two cents cheaper, so can usually get it for up to 3-4 cents less than the bigger name stations. Shell got 86'd a while ago cause they are always the most expensive and I never found their fuel to be any more special. My level of giving a **** with fuel mileage is non existant, so I just burn whatevers cheap in my area.

its a dollar eight here in southern Ontario going to Saul Ste Marie next week shudder to think what it will be up there .they put better additives in the major brands which equates to the better milage

i fueled up at petro friday night and it was 98.9 i haven't had a chance to look yet. Got 250km to a quarter tank which is about usual for me. Mileage goes down a bit in winter but not much

In the last 3 years? Westlock, Edmonton, Hanna, Medicine Hat. Last two years, you can scratch most of those off. But at least one of my trucks moves around frequently.

Have you guys ever considered a card lock account?

I just looked at my PetroCan Superpass bill that arrived today. My highest price was 89.4 a liter and the lowest was 83.6 a litre.

Sure you pay for it all at the end of the month but it's still a huge savings. Most every Superpass is high volume so it's always fresh fuel. If your in a bind and can't find a Superpass, your card works at any PetroCan station that sells diesel, you just pay pump price for that purchase but it still goes on your monthly bill. Works for bulk oil and lube stuff also.

You don't need a business, I'm self employed and the account is in my name. I know just about everyone on this Alberta board burns as much diesel as I do.

Just going by Goatbrain's reply, I saved almost $11 on my last fill compared to what he payed. Give or take, 3 fills a week, 4 weeks a month, that's $132. That's an extra fill a month. I'm good with numbers, I just impressed myself

Worth maybe looking into for some of you higher mileage guys.

I have a both a shell and petropass fuel card. At one time I could pay and max out the cards both in one month. Of course I was averaging 15-20k a month in mileage. Sure don't miss those days. Have to figure out a way to live with the 60-90 day pay checks and $2000 monthly fuel bill.

Don't think cheap fuel is coming back anytime soon.

Mike, I agree with on cheap fuel not coming back anytime soon.

I have been there many times with a stupid high fuel bill pushing $1500 to $2000 a month also, but saving a few cents a liter does add up in a hurry when you can find it cheaper.

Myself, if I can use someone else's money even for a month at a time for fuel purchases, I'll do it if they offer me the fuel at a cheaper price. I don't miss the days of chasing cheap fuel by running all over the place.

I remember my first bill from Superpass just after I bought my truck, 41 cents a liter! That didn't last long.

Speaking of cardlocks has anybody tried UFA fuel?

I haven't used it personally but know quite a few people who do and they haven't said anything bad about it. The UFA tanker goes by my place a few times a week so they are filling a lot of tanks around here in Sundre.

The UFA cardlock in Olds always has someone at the pump filling up everytime I go by there.
