If there was an engine that Navistar has put out that i would consider owning, it would be the 6.4 it seems to be the real deal for the first time,, common rail technology, well built bottom end.. no head gasket issues.. guys are getting 700 hp with minimal mods out of them... too bad they wont be in production long enough for the performance world to really get stuff going for them,, be neat to see where they can take it

Co-worker at work just picked up a brand new CC F350 SRW 4X4, Cabella's editon. Same leather interior as the Harley Daivdson Edition. VERY sharp looking truck. Only thing he didn't get was the Nav package.

Paid $67k for it. Seemed high to me but he was pretty happy with it.

heres my 6.4. i really don't like the 350s on a strictly looks basis. the F450s have a bigger meaner stance and that makes a difference IMHO. now the 6.4 in this service truck. not a power house no question. scared myself a coulpe times turning left over traffic.......see a hole, push the peddle...nothing happening......hole closing..... I"M screwed IM SCREWED.......wait....... finally picks up.........scoots through at the last possible second. Verdict. I hate it.

From my experience with the 6.4, which is limited to certain customer's trucks, they still have the traditional ford diesel 300 RPM "powerband" Happens higher up in the rev range, and as long as you keep it there, it'll go like snot, for about 200 feet.

Not bashing, just the way they seem to operate. Empty, they go pretty good, but loaded, either with a trailer, or as a service truck... ugh.

I know quite a few guys using them as pilot cars, and those ones get driven much like an OTR truck. They seem to be getting the miles out of them without breakdowns... no fuel mileage to speak of though.

It would be good to see them go with their own straight 6 design, and do away with the "goes both ways" design of the Navistar. They do make a good truck otherwise.

on edit: they make a good truck, except for that "down's syndrome" looking front end.
