Hey all,, I have decided to do a little prettying up under the hood. I talked to my buddy Rob in GP and he is going to do that PC for me. But I have to pick a color.... I am at a loss, so help me out here... keep in mind is that the truck is black. I was kind of thinking a dark silver or grey,, something to that, but I am open for ideas

how about bright silver?
or bright blue?
or bright green?

i think you should try and go with a color that will give contrast as opposed to blending in.

how about picking an old mopar color paint from the late 60's early 70's?

 

I had a two tone silver truck...The dark silver would be nice...

 

Yeah I know what you are saying. I am just not a real flashy guy I guess,, but I still might go that way.., the wife is trying to talk me into going red or blue... hmmmm,, just not sure... been looking at lots of pics,, I think I am going to guage what the consensus is on here and go from there

how about plain old white? not flashy but still gives the contrast.

or you could do a pearlescent white with a tinge of blue or something - like an actric white color perhaps . . .

get us a pic of your undehood as it sits now. maybe you already have something that is matchable . . . such as blue intercooler boots . . .

my underhood is pretty much factory.. I am going to be doing alot under there... no fenderwells, so I am going to do the shock towers and paint everything else a nice shiny black

 

Kev, I was just talking to my local guy in Airdrie about power coating. They can do some pretty nice stuff, I just need more big amounts to make it cheap so we can do big amounts of power coatings. They can do sand blasting as well. I have some parts going in shortly, you guys can get in if you want

I have a old tool box and a tunnel cover off my dad's old 01 truck. Its mine, and gonna be treated to power coating treat.

I'm kinda excited, I want them to polish my aluminum and clear coat. Should be nice once done.

I'm doing some black shortly. Anybody need to get black done or clear let me know.

I want brite brite red on the cummins valve cover, head and block, oil pan.

 

I almost forgot, I'm going down to get some prices on getting some parts thermocoated with the hot coating ceramics tomorrow. Let me know if you want to get in. I have an exhaust manifold, two turbo exhaust housings, and an exhaust system going in shortly. I'm doing this right ...for once

I would personally go with a brite but still dark blue if that makes any sense, bright as in a standout color but dark enough to hide grease smudges and fingerprints. It all depends on what colors your truck has to begin with. If you have blue guages on the inside then go with blue or what ever matches what you already have.
I just like to have matching stuff, everything in my truck that lights up is blue (radar detector, dvd deck buttons/background, amp power lights, cell charger) it just looks like everything belongs and wasnt just slapped together.

Other than go fast stuff, my truck is pretty much stock,, the only chrome is the wheels, stacks and rocker panels, under the hood other than the usual stuff it looks sorta stock...

I kinda like that idea though about the blue,, I think that red is a little over done,, I want something to stand out, but subtley

 

Kev, I'd go with a dark grey. On CompD in the perf/comp section, there is a thread about making the underhood parts pretty. There is a guy who had a bunch of 2nd gen stuff powder coated, including a real nice smooth valve cover. Thats what I'd suggest for your truck. You can also see my 12v parts in there, see if a candy blue tickles your fancy.

Mike, I had my rear bumper blasted and coated at Silverline last week. They did a good job. Looks like they used a pretty heavy bead on it, which is fine for my bumper. I'd hope they'd go with lighter stuff for pipes and such.

 

Tate, I'm going to silverline in town for the powered coating. They shouldn't be to expensive and they seem to do good work. I would like to see how your bumper worked out for ya.

 

Our service rig colors are black pearl and silver pearl, what a beautiful color combo!!! I really suggest silver pearl or a metallic silver..

 

Jamie do you have any pics that show that combination,,, that is what I am kind of leaning towards. But I have to prove it to myself and the wife that it would look good
