i'm sure they are fine . . . or else they wouldn't sell them.
on the other hand, the replacement i picked up from auto value was all solid. it was a spectra heater core.
if i had a choice for the same price, i would choose the solid one. (hopefully we don't make you go back and get a different one!!!)

On the older trucks that use a cable to control the blend door, after you install an aftermarket heater core make sure the blend door linkage will do a full sweep from hot to cold without hitting the heater core's pipes. I've found some of the aftermarket ones are shaped different from the OEM ones and will obstruct the travel of the linkage.
