Can't get trackbar out
I posted this in the 24v non-drivetrain forum but in case this forum is more closely watched by locals I am posting here too. I need to replace the bushing on my trackbar (truck is a 2000 2500 4wd). The nut on the axle that fastens the trackbar to the axle housing has a little steel tab on it because you cannot get a wrench up inside the little housing. I just snapped that little tab off!!!! Any thoughts on how to get the bolt out that holds the axle end of the trackbar in place?
Luckily truck is driveable but I still need to get it apart eventually to replace that bushing.

Lil Dog - where in the Calgary area would one get their hands on NutCracker? I had to get my PB Blaster brought in from the States.

Kroil is really good stuff - and is available from Acklands (I believe), or Greggs or Century Vallen (cant remember which).
You can also make your own by mixing 1/2 atf and 1/2 acetone in a spray bottle.

I've never tried to the home brew, but this isn't the first time I have heard that recipe either.

IMO, just torch off the nut and/or the bolt head, take a big hammer, and beat it out.. The old bar is scrap any ways. Buy a new grade 8 bolt and replace. Install new track bar.

Well folks,
I am at my wits end with this nut and bolt. I now call it my 9 hour bolt as I have spent 9 hours fighting with it. I cut the access hole to the nut larger and got an open end wrench on it. I have tried heat, impact and penetrating oil. I did prove without a doubt that profanity is not an effective penetrating oil substitute. All I have succeeded in doing is rounding the nut of very nicely. Trust me, the open end wrench was a nice tight fit, I actually had to hammer it on to get it to fit well. I then tore the edges off the nut. If I could get the truck up high enough to get under the axle with my saws-all then I would just cut the nut off.
My neighborhood garage has pretty good shop rates and they seem like good guys so I am just going to take the truck up to them with the new trackbar and bushings and have them cut the old nut and bolt off and be done with it. I don't usually admit defeat but 9 hours on one bolt is enough.
