Holy snow flakes. Had a visit from JHansen yesterday and I now have a really good A/C system. Refrigerant top-up was all it took. Thanks a bunch JH, hope you enjoy the sausages and pepperoni sitcks.

What are you saying there J? That I like to eat? That doesn't sound like me at all.....! :-)
Sean, glad all is working well. It was good to meet you & BS a little. Looking forward to trying the sausage when I get back from fishing-although I managed to get roped into a couple days of work in the middle here. Good thing for wireless cellphone amplifiers so I could stay out here and have a working call phone!

About 2 weeks ago, after 484,000 kms my air conditioning went the way of the dodo bird. Once or twice it seemed to blow cold air, but now I got nuttin. Where do I start on trouble shooting this bad boy? I have access to gauges.... of sorts. Am I doing irreparable damage to my compressor running it this way? The clutch thingamijigger seemed to spin kinda slow and squeal. . Could it be from splashing through mud puddles for 7 years?

If your compressor packed it in, you can't hurt it any more than it is.
You have to put a guage set on it to verify what's going on. You'll have to take steps from there.
As in the debris will have to be cleaned out, components changed as nessicary. Then recharged.

I am no expert yet but it seemed pretty easy one we had a set of gauges on my truck. The FSM listed what the pressures should be and we went from there. The gauges JHansen had were from NAPA.

I had my minivan evac'd and I recharged it myself with Duracool. Easy install and its a hydrocarbon based coolant, no fuss with environment etc. Got the kit at PA and went through some online troubleshooting to make sure I read the gauge right. Works great, way cooler than before.
