I just came over from the Ford ranks and my 2000 F-350 also had a terrible vibration when starting out. The cure for that was a 3/8 or 1/2" shim to lower the carrier bearing. It made a big difference in that truck. Not sure if it is the same issue with a Dodge or whether that fix will work. I just bought a 3500 chassis and cab and it is smooth on starts from a standing stop.

Do you have a one piece or two piece driveshaft? Mine has a vibration at all speeds, but is worse at around 70 and when you let of gas, seems like it loosens up.

My 2010 Dually 4x4 does the same thing from a standstill. It feels like torque converter shudder to me. I used to have an '01 dually that did the same thing AFTER I put an Edge EZ on it. I wound up putting a different converter in it and the problem went away. I know on the new HO 800 motor the converter is different. I can't say I'm right for sure but it's something to consider.............

I read on another site that folks are shimming the carrier bearing down to give a better angle on the drive shaft, this sounds like it may work.... I am ready to mount my helmet cam to the frame and take off so I can see what the heck is going on and be able to show the dealer

I noticed a shudder pulling my 5vr over the weekend when taking off kinda hard from a stop. It had been smooth till now. I had let all the air out of my airbags to soften ride while I drove the truck as a commuter, and when I loaded them back up, I think I might have put too much air to them. That raised the back end up a bit higher, which I noticed, but didn't attribute to the extra air.. After researching, it seems you can pick up a shudder if the angle on the second drive shaft is to severe. My plan, is to drop the pressure and see if the shudder goes away.. I'll post the test results when I'm done.

ps, I did notice in my research about the shudder, it seems to be a big issues for the Fords...

If I load the bed with no air in the bags the truck will be smooth, The dealer has said the carrier bearing is bad and they ordered one... Guess what the bearing is on national back order! My plan is to have the bearing replaced then shim it to bring the angles down some.

Hello all, following up as I mentioned above. I lowered the pressure in the airbags from about 80, to about 58. This lowered the back of the truck at the 5th wheel hitch about an inch and a half. The shudder went away.

I was just wondering if all you guys have long beds or is there a short bed in the bunch? My friend needed his serviced a couple of weeks ago and his friend is the service writer so he just drove it to work for Larry and he noticed the vibration or shudder, Larry never noticed it, but they replaced the driveshaft and it went away. His was a long bed, wonder if that makes a difference.
