Mega Cab Gooseneck Hitch

Mega Cab Gooseneck Hitch
I am wanting to trade my 03 quad cab for a 4th gen mega cab. I currently have a diesel tank in the bed of my 03. I will need to put the tank in the mega cab. The tank is 31 inches wide. Will I be able to have the tank and still have a gooseneck hitch? Any help would be appreciated.

Dumb question on my part but have you taken a good look at the crew cabs? Much improved over the old quad, same leg room as the Mega, but you can get one in a long bed. All that would be lacking is the reclining rear seats and the space behind them. I believe they are slightly less $$ as well.

Not a dumb question at all. The reason for a mega cab is I have found one that has a salvage title, resulting from it being stolen. The price is more in my price range and gives enough room for my son.

Dont think you will be able to. My lil bro was going through the same dilemma with is 07, and I know he took a bunch of measurements. I see if he can remember what they were.

I had a huge 80gal transfer tank in the bed of my 08 mega. no fitment problems at all. I slid it across from the bed of my '01 in the dealer lot by myself. had to lift it over the fender wells in the '01, but it slid between the wells in my '08. Only draw back is you're screwed for bed space after putting in the tank.

OK, first is it 31 inches wide? or 31 inches deep?
The major issue is the fender wells, I believe (Been awhile since measurements have been taken) you only have around 2X (maybe 28") of bed before the fender wells. Which is the issue.
MOST L-Shaped tanks WILL FIT but they go to far into the bed for the goose-neck. So if you want goose-neck, scratch those.
Pretty much anything that's 45gal+ will be to large for the application you are trying for. The only option I have seen was my brother's setup with a 45gal tank that sat far enough up to clear for a goose-neck.
Other then that you always have the option to build a custom tank.

Slade what size was that L tank you had in your truck. I know it came about 6" too far into the bed for a gooseneck setup. We would have had to notch the tank to make it work.

It was actually cheaper to have a custom tank built then actually try and modify the L-tank. Which took more skill then I possessed at the time.

I measured my crew cab short box with my B&W hitch its 29 inches from the front of the box to the front of the pin it's also 17 1/2 inches from the front of the box to the start of the wheel well starting to rise. You should be able to compare the Crew cab and the mega cab measurements and transpose the 29 inches. To gain extra depth for a tool box I notched the box and raised it 2 inches, this enabled me to use the B&W companion.
