Looking at 2011 2500 mega, what to check out?

Really like my 06 quad cab 2500 (except the TIPM) I've had for 6 yrs but the back seat just isn't big enough anymore. Looking for a newer mega cab and am going to go look at a 2011. What should I look for? Any gripes or tips? Thanks.

Not all 2011 or 10s and even some 12s for that matter are without electrical issues, primarily with the TIPM and the CCN (instrument cluster). Some have said it could be due to high power CB radios that some truckers and others use. Look up my past threads and posts or do a search. I have problems on occasion, though not in a while (since I'm telling you about it something will probably happen tonight when I go to work). Some have encountered no start conditions because the high speed bus failed to wake up (myself included). Since I have a programmer, after cycling the ignition a few times it wakes up and I can clear the codes and be on my way. It is a nuisance but I still love my truck. Other things to be on the lookout is the emissions. Unless you delete, you have to maintain the dpf (truck takes care of it for the most part) and have the dealer (maybe you could do it) clean it when it gets too full. As long as the dpf is attached, the engine will "create oil" when it goes into regen. I've been happily living without the emissions in my truck since around 18k miles I believe. I have just over 70k now with about 23k miles on the same oil. I do oil analysis and my last sample came back strong for continued service.

Others may chime in soon as well and confirm, deny, or refute what I've posted and even add to the list.

All in all these are good trucks with strong motors. I wouldn't mind trading up for a '14 (new truck syndrome) but I have no need to. I sometimes wish I got the manual but am satisfied with the auto. If you haul a lot or spend a lot of time on the road you can get a gear vendors with a manual (why I wish I got a manual). Just a few things for you to consider. Not all trucks are bad trucks. I'm sure most have had zero problems.
