L 16 Safety Recall notice

Called the dealer again about parts availability, said maybe the end of the week. They check the angle with "a special tool" and yes, they have it re-aligned if they end up replacing the tie-rod end.
It does appear to be an assembly issue at the factory and not a substandard tie rod-end.

Wow, they must be busy with something. I took mine in yesterday. Took 10 minutes. The service manager told me that it was not the part, but the way it was installed. All trucks with the part installed correctly take 10 minutes. The few that need a new TRE will get it replaced.

Don't turn lock-to-lock and you can do a visual by comparing the angle of the tie rod ends on the two knuckles. If one is rolled more forward or backward than the other, you're a candidate for trouble!

Is the angle checked front to rear of the truck or side to side looking at it. I had to cancel my appt to have mine looked at this week so going to shoot for next week.

Looking from the front roll the tie rod forward so one ofthe tie rod ends hits the shaft in the ball socket. With the wheels close to straight ahead the two tie rod ends should both be close to maxed at the same time. Front to rear.

Anyone any ideas?? Why isn't someone making one of these????
I have mine inverted but I know it wouldn't stop anyone. I can't bring myself to take ours in for this so I did the inspection today and just about to check the torque after looking it up. 200ftlbs... that's getting up there, I might have to break out the long handle torque wrench.

How about a blank plug zip-tied over the port? Add a little tag that says "DO NOT REMOVE"
