Exhaust Brake Warmup

Son just bought 2013 Outdoorsman. His father-in-law said his dealer said not to use e-brake on warm-up(he bought 2014 Ford). I have always used my exhaust brake on warmup in cold weather(Canada). Is there any reason not to?

My '08 owner's manual says the exhaust brake can be used to assist engine warmup. Are the new '13-'14 trucks any different in that aspect?? (Does it still say exhaust brake can be used to help warmup?) Are the Fords different for some reason? Any info? (Sorry to use that "bad" word on this site lol)

I thought the ferds did not include a button for the EB and that it was automatic, did they include one on the new trucks due to owner dissatisfaction in previous years?

That's a good point Mega. Unless the 2014 Fords (sorry again) have a way.

Guess I found the answer. Went online and read p.56 of the 2013 diesel supplement. It says "The exhaust brake feature can also be used to reduce the engine warm up time." Apparently the 2014 Ford does have an exhaust brake switch.
