Cabin Filter Mod

This is going to be a very dumb question. I went to my Dodge dealer and bought the filter box lid but did not get the filter as I wanted to get the Wix charcoal one but only took that number to my local Canadian Tire to find out they do not stock them so will pick one up at another source. I have not removed my lower glove box until I get all the parts in place. My dumb question is this, does the filter fit into the filter box and then slid into the opening? And then the metal cover replaced? I know this is dumb but as I have not removed the glove box,I am a little confused with the pictures.

It will all make sense when you remove the lower glove box. You need to cut out the opening for the filter. Just follow the instructions on the first page. Then simply insert the filter into the opening and snap the lid on to hold the filter in place and close up the air box.
Good luck

I completed mine this afternoon, just before the world was going to come to an end. I found it difficult to cut out the plastic piece using a utility knife, so I was able to start the hole then used a hacksaw blade to finish it and then a dremel tool to clean it up. I bought the cover at my local Dodge dealer for 14.95 and the Wix carbon filter for just under 15 bucks. My cover did not click in place but it seem to be tight and not easily removed, so I figure I am good to go.

What I also found is that you have to cut the opening flush with the outline to get the filter in. I left a little "extra" and had to re-cut, which turned in to a mess of little chips falling into the blower. Just cut it flush with the outline the first time.

No, mine snapped on. There are tabs on the left and right sides of the cover that snap onto nubs on the side of the air filter box.

No snap on mine
