Im thinking of making my own drag link and tire rod with 1.5'' solid bar and 3/4'' heims on either ends. Anyone out there have a better solution. I read on some threads that heim joints are not DOT approved and are for off road use only, (dangerous for daily road driving) I used my truck as a daily driver. Maybe bigger 7/8'' heims will help or ?? Any help or advice is appreciated.

Thuren Fabrication makes a steering setup that uses heim joints. There are quite a few guys running his setup that are really happy with how well it works.
