Mine has done 22mpg hand calculated at 10K gross weight, on a 250 mile trip hope from West Virginia. 70mph cruise on mostly interstate.
It will do 20mpg pretty much any time I spend any length of time on the freeway, as long as I keep it under 75mph. If I run faster, it will drop down a bit, but usually still above 18.5mpg.

So if you down load the "Overdrive" software your transmission is now "optomised" right? The word "optomised is a bit subjective. I guess what I am saying is I see people posting how good the software upgrade is but no real specific details.
Is this software addition user adjustable or only comes one way?
I am looking for better towing performance and management from the transmission. I would like the torque converter to lock up sooner (lower RPM). Would also like it to lock in second gear at assist with heavy towing loads and minimize heat build up with stop and go / slow traffic. Also would love to be able to limit gear kick down and gear hunting ( ah la manual valve body). In other words once the torque converter is locked out, I want to be able to floor it and not have the transmission kick down and keep I want the torque converter to ay locked out.
Thanks

I have 40k since adding the mini with the overdrive software. The tranny shifts without that darn yank clunk feel. It is more solid when it shifts with a load. Like others have said you can put the cruise control on the hills and never touch it. I have a tranny gauge and it lowered my temps 20 degrees in the 6 plus degree hills in Northern Cal and Oregon. I kinda put it in my mind that it was a electronic shift kit without having to drop the pan. Cost is less overall than dropping the dang pan. It is not a miracle software device turning your truck into a space shuttle. More trans pressure to help a weak link in the drive train.

Torque converter will lock in 2nd and 3rd, upshifting or downshifting both...but I've only seen it above 23-2500RPM.
At least on mine, but I do drive with tow/haul on ALL the time!

I don't know if can be done on these newer trucks, but I heard of a switch being wired up to lock the TQ on the older ones.
