Question Finally doing what I should have done a year ago

I am finally buying the H&S Mini Maxx to do the deletes on my truck. Any suggestions where to buy the tuner and dpf delete pipe? However, that isn't the reason for my post... I have noticed they sell the overhead and pillar mount for the mini. I am interested to see what others have done, I am not fully sold on either mounting method.

Let me see what you DTR genius' have come up with this time

They are going quick from what I understand, so good luck getting all you need. The EPA put an end to the deletes, so buy NOW.

Yeah, that was part of my reasoning to get it now and not hold out until the spring. I placed an order last night, they were selling the H&S tuner and the dpf delete pipe as a bundle discounted. Assuming all goes well should see the parts in a week or so.

Well this is how mine started out. But I never did quite like where it sat.

So, I cut the aluminum bracket down a bit shorter, and mounted it here, making sure that it was far enough forward to where I could still get the SD card out easily. Much better location, doesnt obstruct any gauges, blends in a lot better, good line of sight, and easily reachable.

Where did you order from, and how much did it cost?

I got my Mini Maxx and MBRP DPF/NOX delete pipe from eBay for $1,019. They've went up a bit since I purchased mine but there are still quite a few out there at reasonable prices.

I used the Overhead Mount for my Mini Maxx, looks like a Factory install. I don't like the Pod Mount on the A-Pillar because it looks bolted on, which it is.

Blake, I like how you mounted yours by the dash. I want to try to do something similar to that. KKB I got my Mini Maxx and DPF/NOX delete pipe for $1,100 from Parleys Diesel Performance. They were doing a bundle deal. If you are interested in doing the delete, even a few months down the road, I would get the tuner and pipe now. It seems like they will be hard to get in the coming months.

I am new to the 4th gens. Can you do just a programmer and dpf delete pipe, or do you need to delete the egr and nox? Thanks. Also what are the benefits of deleting all of it over just the dpf?

I'm sure the more experienced DTR members can explain the benefits of deletes better than I but I will give it a shot. By using the DPF delete pipe you will also be deleting the NOX as well. The egr on the 2012+ can be electronically deleted by the tuner, so you no longer need to remove that, unless you want to.

The benefits to deleting are better fuel economy, more power by allowing the truck to run with less restrictions and better response time. Some of the tuners, if not all, allow for on the fly shifting of power levels as well as monitoring many vital signs. All and all I've heard once you delete you never go back. In a week or so I will be able to confirm that as well.

I would just build my own delete pipe, save some $$$. It takes almost no time to make. You need 62inchs of 4in exhaust pipe. Cut the delete pipe flange from 3/8" plate ( i used my plasma torch to cut but a cutting torch or angle grinder/hole saw will work). Abit of welding, you have a delete pipe. I've done a few home made delete pipes now.

LOL, Not everyone has; exhaust pipe, plasma torch, angle grinders, cutting torch, and arc welders in the shop out back, much less the knowledge on how to use them in a constructive manner.

No offence to people who do, ("It takes almost no time to make") I just think that's kind of funny.

I did a turbo back delete so I could lose the cat too. I don't like cats. Always been a dog man. I kept the stock muffler and tail pipe though. I also did the full egr/cooler delete under the hood. I now have a box-o'-parts in my garage that I'll probably hold onto just in case they ever start doing emissions testing on diesels in Texas and I have to put it all back on (which wouldn't be a fun task at all).

So what is the best programmer/tuner? I had a Smarty on my 05 and really liked it, but it seems like nobody has a Smarty. Almost everyone seems to be running H&S, what about edge? Sorry to be hijacking the thread, just trying to learn some about the 4th gens.

KKB, do a search in this 4th Gen High Performance forum, Blake did an excellent review of Smarty and H&S head to head.

If you want H&S you don't want to wait too long as eventually they will all be sold out. Smarty won't be as much an issue as long as nothing changes and you can get the ME tunes from someone here.
