Fuel Gauge Stopped Working

Fuel gauge was acting up for a few weeks, one day it worked, next day no go, and so on. Now it doesn't work, and fuel light is on. Getting code P0463. I cant seem to find any threads for 4th gen on this one. Sending unit I'm assuming? Never replaced one, but I'm guessing drop tank, remove unit, replace, mount tank? Anything else it could be? I've read about reading ohms and so on, but are they same readings as 2nd and 3rd gens? Any help much appreciated. If is sending unit, is it a dealer only part?

Check connector for any push out pins, diag maybe of some help checking wires. Most likely sensor in tank gone bad but Check resistence of sensor first

In that above pdf diagram, are those harnesses under the hood, or near/ around the tank? Also, Big said to check the resistence of the sensor. Does he mean the fuel level sensor at the tank?

Those wires will be at both ends of the truck. Measure the sensor at the tank, on the Fuel Pump Module. Your gonna want to measure as close to that sensor as you can get to minimize inaccurate Ohm readings from the long wires going back to the TIPM. Just follow the instructions BigIron posted and you should be fine.
