Now way in heck that factory pump caused the filter to collapse.
I've never even seen them that high. The bypass located in the fuel canister keeps the OE pressure to about 10 psi at the pump, which is 8-10 at the CP3 at idle and 4-7 WOT based on the status of the filter and fueling levels.

Unless my new Isspro gauge is a bit off mine sits at 14-15 idling and drops to 12ish when I smash on it.

That's a lot higher that I was expecting, I wonder if they changed the pump in '11+? The '10's I have seen run the same pressure/pump as they did in 05.

Thou I do recall a few people that started out in the teens with low miles, but as miles increased the psi dropped as the spring in the bypass wore out.

Either way, it's not enough to do damage to the filter.

I dont think they did. Maybe I just got an oddball one.

Might end up with factory filter damage.

Thank God I have a GDP 2micron for a backup

Plenty of people running AD and FASS pressure thru their OE filters without issue.. I don't see anything here but a faulty filter install and a dealership living up to the *********** name. If they installed it wrong they owe the OP an injector or two.

Yeah I was being a lil sarcastic. Its 100% install error in my opinion.

Will be doing an AD in the future but will bypass the factory and straight to the 2micron.

Not too much of an issue at home. May become an issue if Im working up north at all.

Any one else bypass the factory setup at all?

Did this on my Dads 02. Not sure if it has a fuel heater or not?

I figured... just pointing out another reason why I don't think it had anything to do with algae in the tank!

Ask the dealership if they know what Asphaltene's are.. and I bet they don't!

While the stock filter is good for filtering, a heater post 2 filters won't really do you a bit of good if you need it!

I personally would plumb thru it for additional filtering. I am a fan of heaters (run 2), but they need to be first in line not last or 2nd to last.

Thanks

Wouldnt expect Racor to be budget priced, but its worth what they charge IMO. Racor is top of the line.

nothing new to report but we *will* be installing a 2 stage filter setup when he gets his truck back up. The 2nd filter will be 2u but what should the 1st one be, 10u?

Thanks for all the help/support/info.

Factory would be fine as a prefilter to the 2micron.
