Data Logging

I have an intermittent issue that never duplicates it's self with the dealer.
Occasionally (not often at all) I'll get a check engine light but it goes away before I get it to the dealer.
Anyway I get a severe lag in throttle response on occasion. Most of the time I get no CEL in fact it's been close to a yr since I have but I still get this lag. Dealer did the EGR service about 1 yr ago but on a trip the following week I got this same lag. I was wondering if running some data logs would tell me what is causing this? Also what devise should I run for datalogging?

If it is the 2010, I would get efi, you can use that, or auto Ingenuity.
Both can Data log.
