There sure seems to be a lot of negative feedback on the new trucks here, or maybe it is just me? So far, I really like my 2011. Here is what I like better over my 2007 5.9:
-seats are much more comfortable
-ride quality is dramatically better
-options and refinement is much higher
-quietness of the motor is a nice plus
-transmission shifts much much better than the 4sp auto
-power is better stock to stock
-stereo system better
-backup camera is wonderful
Now, I really loved my 2007, but after a day in the seat I was always left feeling fatigued and my head would be ringing. This 2011 is like a Cadillac in comparison. I haven't owned it long enough to experience any emissions issues, but hopefully they are worked out after 4 years.

I am an 11' owner as well. Amazing truck, I am a full delete guy so let me tell you (The truck is waiting to bust out of its shell).

I cannot believe we cannot get them like this from the factory

I'm going to repeat something I posted about this notion - I hope nobody minds.

Remember that on a list like this you only hear from a very, very small percentage of end users - and normally those who are pushing the truck to it's limits. For a daily driver a 20-40 hp increase will never be felt - 100hp is a different thing - but how many daily drivers need a 100hp increase just to drive to work or home? (I love hp as much as the next guy, but, really think about how much this matters)

The ones who post problems here are people seeking advice from the very knowledgeable group we have here, not the guys working their turck everyday with no problems.

I imagine that if you find a Duramax group like this one, you will see the same sort of posts. ALL truck and car makers have a certain percentage of duds rolling off the assembly line - they know it and buyers should too. They test for everything under the sun, but the end user is the person who really finds the bugs. They cannot be expected to find a problem that requires 12,000 miles to show up in 50 trucks out of 50,000 (a total guess - no idea really) that they make.

How they deal with these things is the real difference.

If honda built a truck that met my needs, I'd buy a Honda, but they don't - Dodge does and only dodge. So I bought a Dodge. Our local dealer sucks big time, so I'll go to a dealer in the next town for service, no big issue.

If I decide that I need to delete the thing, I'll do it, but I know one thing, I don't want to deal with DEF so I'm buying now. When and if I delete, I will be driving a truck that will breath the way a diesel is suppose to.

I'd like to also add that as my wife and I have traveled the country as nearly half-time RV'ers (new phrase I just invented - send royalties to...LOL) we see every type of truck on the road and in the campgrounds. Rams diesels are seen PULLING BIG campers much more often than the rest.

All just my opinion, of course and YMMV.

I think otherwise, the only complaint I can recall people posting is about the mileage!
Every post I can recall on the new trucks, 07.5 to 11's, they love the truck, no comments like "I bought a Cummins wrapped up in a Dodge Ram".
I recall several posts stating that the 4th Gens ride better, are quieter, the 6 sp auto is praise worthy, etc...
I have a'08 with the 6.7, 6 sp auto. After doing the delete thing, I have only one complaint. I've done 8 hour drives without becoming too sore, but the seats could be better.

Ive been saying for a while now.

Dodge stepped up there game. The Ford guys cant give that ole, "Yall got a Cummins but we have the nicer/better riding/more plush truck" routine anymore.

I absolutely love my 2011 and short of a massive failure of a mechanical item (not likely) I dont see that changing any time soon.

Already getting the delete itch too, but gotta wait for the next job to roll around.

My only complaint on my 2010 is I wanted to know when my truck went into regen so my truck wouldn't start anymore fires when we were combining.
So I quess that was a good excuse to do the deletes right away. you know I have 1700 miles since I changed my oil and it still is clear on the dipstick.
15K and no troubles so far.

I guess I am the only onwer of a Gen 4 truck that is getting better milage than they were with the old one.
My 2010 2500 4X4 gets a solid 16-18 HWY. My 2007 3500 4X4 got a solid 13-14 HWY.
The interior is MUCH better. The seat are larger,a dn softer, but, could still use some more padding. Overall it is a totally different machine.
I love it.

I'm getting 14-15 on my commute, but that has some elevation change. I did 100 miles in the flatland and was over 16 running 70-75 mph. I also found a used fiberglass tonneau cover that appears (after two days) to help about 1 mpg... lots of variables, that's all I'm sayin'

Just took delivery of my new '10 last night. I'm stunned with the ride quality and overall feel of the truck. 825 miles on the odometer so far (the dealer was 643 miles from me).

I found it on the internet - 2010 manual with the color combo I wanted.

I e-mailed the dealer, got a return phone call. They had eight 2010 manuals still on the lot and wanted them gone. $6000 difference "out the door" between my '08 GMC 2500HD ccsb 2WD with 31K and this new Ram 2500 Big Horn ccsb 4WD. For a few dollars more, they delivered it to my driveway and picked up my trade. I've bought and sold a ton of trucks in my time, but this was by far the easiest deal I've ever been involved with. I'm still sort of stunned over the whole thing to be honest.

No, my 2010 CCLB was getting 17.5-18.25mpg Highway BEFORE the deletes. I honestly can't expect much better than that after the deletes, but it would be nice Around 14-15mpg city/combined average!


I'm still loving my 2010...32K miles and counting since 5/1/2010
