Yet ANOTHER H2 wheel Conversion:
[IMG][IMG][/IMG][/IMG]
I just bought a set of 5 (FIVE!)NEW chrome h2 wheels and tires for 700.00. A pretty good deal I think. Anyway, I spent 300 dollars to have Stockton Wheel in Stockton, CA to unmount machine and remount/balance the tires for a total investment of $1,000 for 5 new tires and wheels. I realize now that I could have done the machining myself with a router but i was worried about the whole hub-centric vs. lug centric thing so I opted for a professional boring job.
I used a 4.5" Milwaukee grinder with a 4.5" diamond wheel to mod the center caps to fit. I set the center caps on the bench spiring clips down. Then I set the grinder at 3/8" down from the top bend (per the instructions posted here) and turned the center cap with my left hand while holding the grinder in my right. Made a nice clean paralell cut and took less than a minute for each cap. Then I just put a steel grinding wheel on to grind down the fastening clips. easy!! As soon as I figure out how to post pics here I will!!
BTW the wheels fit with no rubbing even at full lock, they actually ride nicer than the stock wheels. There has been a 1-2 MPG mileage penalty though, and I havent towed my 11k gros Toy Hauler yet with them. It towed my 3-4k enclosed util trailer fine though. I am worried that the 3.73 gears may present a problem when towing large though... But at least i wont get stuck in the sand at Pismo anymore!!!!!

I'm really considering some chrome H2's but can't find them that cheap.
I've been looking at a few sets on ebay but you never know what you get.
Did you get them from some place that has more?

Check CRAIGSLIST! There's tons of them in ghetto type big cities! The first thing the idiot ghetto types do is basically throw away the stockers in favor of 22" spinners!

Nice mod.. not a bad setup for a grand.. I spent 850 on JUST tires for a set of 35" Pro comp extreme all terrains, and as much as I like them, I'd have jumped on a set of chrome H2's and BFG's for a grand total investment.

I'm playing 'catch up' - what's special about the H2 wheels that you're willing to have them modified to fit your truck? BTW, I see a set here in Seattle for $350...
