I like the look of a black truck. This is my first black truck, and my next one will be black. I do find myself washing it more often, but that's a well-worth-it trade off for my preference. It also matches my dog.

If I new I'd be doing what I'm doing with my truck I would not have bought black. Black is hard enough to keep clean on the street. With the amount of dirt my truck sees its rarely clean. And desert pin striping shows up too well on black.

I'd rather have another Red, but the wife pushed for Black. It looks great, but much more work to keep clean than my Red truck.

Twice a year, I strip her down all the way.

Claybar, Swirl removing compound, NXT, NXT, Carnuba.

most of the above answers pretty much sum up why i would not buy a black truck...

- hard to keep clean
- show every scratch/scrape

looks are a personal preference. what one likes another may not. no right or wrong involved there. but the absolute facts are:

black is harder to keep clean
shows any surface imperfections to a much greater degree
and gets hotter than all hell in warmer climate zones

i personally loved the look of the mega 4x4 dually like mine, but couldn't live with the drawbacks of it. the south texas sun takes it's toll on black vehicles. plus my air conditioner is barely adequate as it is. don't need to throw black on top of that.

To me black looks awesome-in the showroom! Never again for me, I was out there every freaking day, and then when I went down a gravel road I lost it. If you don't take it off road or scrape trees, bushes and spit gravel, then I guess you can live with it. I like silver or white now that I am older.

I wouldn't buy a Black Dodge. My Patriot Blue is bad enough. If you look at it wrong, the paint chips or scratches.

I had a Black Ford (ughh) and it was surprisingly durable.

I went from Black to Silver... two oposite sides of the spectrum.

My black truck was so sweet when it was clean, but ANYTHING would make it look like crap.

My current silver truck looks decent when dirty and pretty sweet when all shined up!

At the end of the day I doubt I'll ever have another black rig.

I loved my black truck....once again when it was clean. I would spend hours washing and waxing it, then pull out of the driveway and by the time I got to where I was going it was filthy. When I bought my 07 I was gonna go ahead and get black just cause it looks so good it almost seems worth the work, but the first 07 5.9 G56 I came across was silver so I bought it. And now I don't regret it a bit. I love my silver truck. It looks kicka$$ when its all shined up and waxed, and still looks good even filthy, and when I go backroadn, drivin on the ranch, or huntn drivn through trails where trees scrape on it, you can't even hardly see where they touched it. With my black truck, every time one little limb, hand, fingernail or anything touched it you could see it. So for my purposes, I like silver better, but for others black might be the one to get

If I were buying a new truck no. If I were buying a used truck and it was what I wanted other than the color yes.

That's why I have an ugly Patriot Blue and Silver 04.5. Man this thing is hideous.

I have had one black vehicle. Like others have said when it is clean it looks great. It was a pain to even wash because the water would dry up so quick and leave spots on it. I had to always wash it after the sun set so it would not spot. It was always hotter inside our black truck compared to our white truck. I wouldnt buy another black vehicle.
