wiring circuit into underhood fuse block

I need to wire in a 12 volt circuit for a radio. I would like to wire it into the underhood fuse block. Has anyone done this? Are there extra circuits for this. I looked in the service manual, but it is not too clear on this subject!

There are spare spaces for fuses. The easy way is to use the fuses with spade tabs on them for adding a wire at the top of the fuse. Pick a spare fuse slot, install fuse, install wire with crimped on connector and you are in business. I drilled a small hole in the side of the fuse holder box to route my wires thru. That way the top of the box will fit back on with no problems.

Excellent. That is exactly what I'm looking for. I guess I have never seen a fuse with a spade tab on them! Can you pick them up at Pep Boys?

Yes, Pep boys should have the fuse taps. The taps have a hole in them where you pass one end of the fuse thru it. It then has a tab that sticks out above the fuse. HAndy item. When I had my Ford, I taped into the 12 volts on the brake controller. Easy to access. Since I didn't tow with it. I believe it's left of the steering wheel on the Dodge. But, if you are powering a radio, it may draw a lot of power. Check the amperage.

The fuse taps from Geno's are the wrong ones for our fuse box. They do however have the Painless acc. fuse blocks that are controlled by a relay that can be wired to the cigarette lighter. The lighter is keyed hot and already fused for a higher amperage so the additional dray won't be a problem.
