Wiper malfunction help

My driver power seat has been blowing a fuse everytime that I replace it. Whatever, I just leave the seat where I like it. Then the wipers go out.

Okay so I am driving home from a 3 hour trip and its pouring down rain. My wipers just flat out quit. So I change the switch to the next higher position and get no results. Finally at the highest setting I get extremely slow wiper motion. This works for about 4 cycles and then the wipers jump to what the high speed should be. This works for 4 to 5 cycles and then they randomly stop in the middle of the windshield. A few minuutes later they repeat slow to rapid to off. Playing with the switch did not create any positive results. I checked for a fuse, loose wires, etc. and could find nothing. So the truck is at the dealer.

A phone call from the dealer says that to fix the problem I am going to have a bill in excess of $1,300.
REALLY?
They say that I need a windshield wiper module-#55077098AL-$197.00
and a totally integrated power module w/front control module-#56049891AR-$837.00

Are there any repairs for these items? Are there less expensive sources for these items? It sounds as if a few others have experienced these issues.

There was a recall on the 06 multi switch free of charge, might want to check if that helps.

Parts

Went through a website called
www.allmoparparts.com
and ordered the part numbers that the dealer claimed I needed. If they come in and are correct, I will have saved about $300 from the dealer's price.

Anybody know how difficult these items are to install? Is is worth paying the dealer $340 to install? If its plug and play I think that I will save $300 and do it myself. If the dealer has to program something or these items are burried I guess I may have the dealer complete the install?

I was having similar problem with wipers. Took someones advice on here and took the cover off the steering column, unplugged the wiper switch, blew it out, plugged and unplugged a couple times and pulled some slack in the cord, plugged it back in wipers worked fine in all positions and have so far for about 1.5 months. Search and maybe you can find the thread. I am a total non-mechanic and it took me 20 minutes. Worth a try! Good luck.
