Window Tint
I have read about the felt on the windows of some trucks scratching the window tint. I am going to have my windows tinted in a couple weeks and I was wondering how I can tell if I am going to have a problem with the felt scratching the tint. I have a 2004 Quad cab that was built in Sept. 2003. Any help is appreciated.

You would have to take the door panel off and check. A place that does good tint jobs usually pulls the panel off, get them to check then.
Mine is scatched horribly on the drivers and partially on the passengers. I'll live with it until I have a big list of things to take my truck in for. Then I'll have to get the tint done again.

in 03 they had the rubber on the windows. they fixed it in 04 so you should be fine. i called my dealer beforehand and asked them if they fixed the 04's with felt stripping instead of rubber and they said yes.

As a professional tinter, I can tell you this. The trucks with no felt tend to scratch the film more than those with it. A quailty film is scratch resistant, so it should stand up to a fair amount of dust on a felt lined weatherstrip. Just make sure the shop you take it to uses a good film and you`ll be fine. Also, you may want to ask what the warranty is, and ask if your truck is not felt lined, how will they handle that ( i.e. would they cover it or not )

I have 20% Madico Onyx tint on my truck and use the windows all the time with no scratches whatsoever. Not sure if its the felt/no felt issue or the quality material. No complaints here. I like the onyx because it's a true black tint, it doesn't look slightly tan/green/purple/grey..

I rarely roll the windows down. That does several things;
1. Keeps me from going through the fast food drive through.
2. No bugs in the truck
3. No wind
4. Little dust
5. No chance of sitting in a wet seat caused it rained!
6. No scratches in the tint since 1998.

Window Tint Removal
I had mine tinted when the truck was new. While it looks great, I find it is just too dark to see my trailer while turning at night. Anyone know how to remove the tint without leaving a mess?
