Will 3500 SRW fit in my garage?

After researching Ford, Chevy and Dodge I ordered a 3500 SRW, 4X4, "Cummins 600". Until recently, I was leaning toward the 6.0 powerstroke until I did some browsing over at the Diesel Stop.com. Anyway, I would like to add the 2" level kit and 285/70 radial SXT to my new truck. My garage door opening measures 82.5"in height. Will my expensive new toy fit in the garage with the larger tires?
Will I notice a significant decrease in power with the 285/70 over the stock tires? How will this effect the warranty? I have the 3.73's. I would like to keep the engine stock to maintain the factory warranty. I would apperciate your input.
Thanks-Jimmy

Your new toy will have plenty of power but you may notice a little decrease if you go to larger tires. I noticed the difference when I got my 315s. By the way, the 315s cost about $70.00 less per tire than the 285s! I haven't even tried to get mine in my garage as the truck is way too long but I will measure the height this morning . Your's of course, will be a little shorter than mine if you go with the 285s.

Welcome Jim,

4X4 3500 is 79.1 inches tall (according to DC). That leaves you 3.4 inches. Minus 2 inches for the leveling kit, ruffley 1/2 of an inch for the 285 tires (subtract just half the overall tire size difference), and that should leave you with almost an inch to play with.

In the end, your truck should be a little lower than advertised. We both have the standard sized garage. With 315/70/17s on my truck, it rolls into the garage with a good inch left which would indicate the truck started out a little lower than the advertised height.

I would not imagine you will see a decrease in power if you go to a bigger size tire. I know I didn’t. If the truck is not going fast enough for you, instinct will take over and you will just mash the go pedal a little more …hence, your fuel mileage is where you will see the difference. Warranty should not be an issue. I would recommend the BF Goodrich All Terrain TA KO in whatever size you decide to go with. Extremely happy with mine and that is what I see on 95% of Dodge trucks up here. Excellent winter traction in snow/icy conditions, yet quiet and civilized running summer highways. Plus they look good to, bonus.

So, how many Oregon whitetails did you bag with that bow this year?

Enjoy!

I haven't lifted mine or done anything else like that and yes it fits in the garage except that I haven't tried to place it completely in the garage and close the door because that side of the garage is full of other stuff. I guess I have my first major project for the spring
Oh, yeah you did'n't say if it was a LB or a SB. That will make a difference. The SB will fit the LB will NOT
