my roommate has an 05 and his has the cat. He called a muffler shop and they told him since there was no emissions testing he could lose the cat and still pass inspection (in texas). He wanted a 5" straight pipe and they told him all it would do was void his warrenty. As far as I know, in texas the only thing cat removal/gutting will do is void your warrenty. Yea 12.50 a year for an inspection is annoying but the $100 ticket you get for not having it is a lot more annoying. Why can't they just let us have our fun??

I wonder why Cat cutout voids your warranty?(Is it just the warranty on the exhaust/ emmision system??) If that's the case, would putting a different muffler on a truck void warranty?(NOT)

I don't see how that can void a warranty, unless THEY can prove that it did something to cause a failure. We are protected by the Moss-Magnussen (sp?) act.
The trucks will definately run cooler without the cat, than with. Cooler is better! Heat is not your truck's friend.
