My way of thinking is that OFF MSRP is a better barometer because the options on these trucks can make the price vary $15K or more for the same model truck. Of course, getting $14K off a truck that lists for $40K is a better deal than $14K off a truck that lists for $55K since the dealer will make more money off the higher tag, but dealer profit is a small percentage of the direct dollar for dollar MSRP (as OTD figures are). Does that make sense?
For instance, if someone says "my OTD was $50K", that doesn't sound like much of a deal unless you find out his truck listed for $61K. Figuring 10% for T&L, that means he got it for $16K off MSRP. A smashing deal by any account and worthy enough to either track down that dealer or look for a comparable deal from another dealer. That's what this thread was good for (for me, anyway).
I wasn't interested in what you or anyone else paid for their truck, only what you got off MSRP so I have a number to shoot for regardless of the MSRP. Interestingly, the dealers work the same way when they are trying to attract buyers to a sale (XXXX off MSRP), so it all makes perfect sense.

I was quoted $41391 for a 2007 6.7 Mega, Laramie, 4x4, srw, manual, w/sunroof, that had a MRSP of $52605. And that was straight over the phone with no haggling. That was a month ago as well, and the truck is still there. This is coming from Dave Smith Motors in Kellogg Idaho.
They will also pay for your plane ticket to come pickup your new truck... then take the weekend to drive it home if you live back east etc...
