Where did you put your tweeters?
I'm installing component speakers in the front doors and am trying to decide a good place for the tweeters. I don't want to mess with putting them in the dash because it looks like too much work. Is it?
I'm thinking about flush mounting them in the door panels above the woofers. The driver side would be directly to the left of the head light switch. anyone do something different?

I did mine in the dash as well, actually same as Eric -- 1/8" aluminum shaped to fit. Really wasn't much work to do either, the top of the dash just pops off and 2 screws hold the speakers in.

Ok so the dash is a good place for them, but did you have to run wires up to them or did you have the factory speakers in the dash? How difficult is that?
I guess then I wouldn't have to run wires into the doors and fight with the wire bulkhead.

I agree with you, but a tweeters main purpose is high frequencies, you put them where you want the level of music to be and where they will equalize. I had mine in the dash but did'nt like the sound. Had them close to the speakers on the door, didn't like that either. Top corners of the windshield proved the best spot. Keep in mind I have a huge ported Kicker L5 15" and the bass is intense, I've played with my system for awhile now and it is perfect now.

You mean that just the top of the dash pops off easily. Please tell me how because I want to put my infinity tweeters in the factory spots, but after looking at the dash, I kinda gave up. I thought it would be real hard to do. I already have the speakers, so if you can ellaborate a little more on how to remove that top without me breaking anything, I would really appreciate it. Thanks!

Mopar, I thought it was pretty easy running wires up there. I did have the factory speakers but I don't use any of the factory wiring that way if I ever sell the truck I can swap back to stock. Also, my crossovers are mounted where the factory amp was above the heater box so I didn't have to run wires far.
gtaj4, yes it just pops off. Flat screwdriver or a narrow scraper works for me.

The Infinity's that I got from Crutchfield fit perfectly. No brackets needed, there was mounting tabs on the speakers already. There is no factory wiring for the dash speakers on my truck so I just dropped the wires down, removed the kick panels and tapped into the wiring for the front door speakers. They sound real good and they came with the 100 micro farad capacitors, which I had to solder on. I believe that I paid $29 for the Infinity's from Crutchfield.

What I did was place them in the top front corner of the door panels. Love the look and the sound. Hid the crossover in the door and used some of that 4 wire monster cable to wire it all. Crystal clear now!!
