What makes the 06 engine quieter than the 04.5?

The dash on the 06 is different, but I don't hear a difference in my dads 06 and my 05.. Mechanically they are the same, and the cab itself is the same, just different fenders.
Yes ground clearance will make a difference.. When I lifted my old trucks, with the same tires as pre lift, they were much louder.

My 05 and my 07 are the same for noise levels. My buddy's 07 is a little noisier than mine when standing in front of the 2.
When I had my 01 PSD, I used to think "why would you want one of these quiet diesels, gotta have the clatter noise". It wasn't until 1 day after new ownership of the 05 that I realized I could hear people while talking on my mobile, and have a normal conversation while driving. Ahh the beauty of technology.
