What is de fueling?

I have been reading and seen the term, and I can't seem to find out what exactly it means and is why is it important? Any help is appreciated.

On a diesel, the more fuel you throw at it, the more power. The only problem is, the more fuel, the higher egt's. That's why when you here someone say there chip defuels. That's a safety thing put into the chip. The chip will defuel when your egt's reach a set limit. There for stopping a melt down. With all of this said. I hope the hell I am wright.

what he said. And to be more specific, "defueling" is when the computer tells the injectors to slow down or even stop injecting fuel into the cylinders. %100 defueling is when the computer tells the injectors to completely shut down and not supply any fuel to the combustion chamber. In a normally asspirated gasser this is done by electronics. The computer or rev-limiter would tell the ignition to stop firing, no spark, no combustion. since the diesels don't have spark plugs they have to limit or even stop the fuel to slow down the motor or to lower egt's. The rev limiter will defuel the motor to keep it under a set rpm. An aftermarket computer will defuel the motor to keep the exhaust gas temperatures within a preset limit. Hope that helps.

And, you don't need a box or programmer to experience defueling. A stock truck will do it under the right circumstances.....
