This is death wobble.

A leveling kit just brings the front end up slightly to "level" it with the rear.

Death wobble sucks! Ive had it once, and only once on my stock BFG's going 80 around a corner, freaked the hell out of me. A good set of tires and Thurens trac bar took it all away.

i hear that B&D has a kit just for the D/W, i had this and replaced my trac bar/ steering stablizer with no luck. if i hit the smallest bump on the interstate HOLD ON. turned out to be bad ball joints

Ya, but tires can be a cause of DW also, plus if your steering is shot, thats another piece of the puzzle.

What for?

Is it done for added tire clearance for oversized tires or does it give more front suspension travel or ground clearance, or make it handle better, or is it just to make a truck look more like a car? If not for a legitimate purpose, I just don't understand why anyone would do it, since as soon as you put a load in the box, the front end would be pointing at the sky.

It's just done so the truck looks level, I hate having the rear end so high, looks stupid.
Don't have mine leveled yet but I already have air bags to keep the rear level when loaded.

Don't do it if you don't like it...
