Whadda ya think? Should I buy a 2006?
Ok gang. Need some input here for sure. I have a chance to buy a 2006 6spd 4x4 dually 82000 miles. Drove it today and it was very nice. The truck is stock except for the 4 inch straight pipe. Very clean Texas example. I found that it had a slight tick during idle and light acceleration but from all I read here it is normal. I found the idle to be a little rough but nothing compared to my 97 12 v. The performance seems good, the throttle response excellent. Just wondering on your thoughts. The price is right for my area and need to act fast. Are there any bits of advice you can give to check. Thanks in advance.

seems like alot of miles for an 06. but if the price is right, good luck. have you looked new? if you can find a 5.9 sometimes new is only a few thousand more than a used one. hope it all works out for you. i never like deals where i have to make a quick decision when it comes to lots of money though. i would prefer doing some research and sleeping on it for a few days

I agree with Brett, don't like decisions you have to make quickly, I'd rather research it some. If it's a great price and you feel comfortable with it, then OK, if its something you're just not sure about, I'd sleep on it some. Good luck!!

Yeah I know....I'm thinking about the sleeping factor for sure. Everything here is at least 5-6 thousand more. Do you know of any problems these trucks seem to be having with this many miles on it?

a new 2500 5.9 QC 4x4 can be had for like 32k from what i hear...definately for 34k. so if this one is 16-18k then id say its a steal of a deal. add a grand for DRW and subtract a grand for an g56

There is no problem with getting the truck into Canada. It came into Canada about 6 months ago. At that time it had 70K miles on it from one owner in Texas who buys a new one every year. It was used to haul RVs around the country.
I think the only real thing that needed to be done was the recall list and the daytime headlights which are no problem since they are controlled by the ECM.
Prices for trucks up here are very dear compared to you guys down south. Right now the 2003's are going for 28-30 k Canadian...about 26-28....give or take...and these have 65,000 ++++ miles. Guys are still fetching 33-35 k for really low mileage trucks. 2006's are 36-38K plus taxes....New....48-58...depending on options

Before we have a flood of trucks ....all warranties are null and void once you import the vehicle, which of course makes the decision to buy even more of a gamble. Now I'm looking at a truck with no backup from Ma Mopar what so ever. I'm thinking of passing. Great deal, nice truck, but no waranty and requires a cat to get it emission passed.....*sigh* If anyone knows of a Canadian 2500 4x4 extended 6 spd 2003-up...let me know
