Try and find a Dodge dealer who is also a Chevy dealer so he can ship it over to his other lot , this will usually get you a better price .

IF the Chevy dealer is really offering you $3k under NADA for your Suburban, he should have no problem buying it from you at that price.

I was looking to buy a new dodge truck for a tow vehicle as well about 2 months ago. I was going to trade the Durango AWD Hemi, Sticker 39,090, and sell my truck outright.

One usually expects a 10 grand fall off as soon as you drive off the lot. Well,
they offered 18 grand for it. The vehicle had 25k on it and was 14 months old.
I too, told them rotate on something. So I lost over 20 grand in value in 14 months.

I will sell it as soon as gas comes down a little more. All the people the dealers sucked in, have those cars parked beind the dealership waiting to put them on the lot when they can get 26 grand for want they paid 16-18 for.

I will never buy another new vehicle again. I said that the last time also.
I should have listened to myself.

I 2nd this. I sold my honda for $5k more than any dealer was willing to give on trade in. $5k is plenty for a down payment on a lot of things. I'd try to sell it on your own if I was you. What's the worst that could happen?

Not long ago Durango's were 10k off sticker. Did you buy yours for 29K? If you did then you took the 10k loss you are talking about. I think that 18 for yours is a bit light though. Let's say you did pay 29k for yours as everyone else was able to get one for that price too. Who is willing to buy it from the dealer for 26k a year later with miles on it?

Just a thought about selling a vehicle, try CarMax. My uncle did very well when he sold his SUV.

www.carsoup.com is also a great site for selling vehicles. $25.00 for an ad and you can leave it on there until it's sold, even if it takes years.

Bill, I went to Missouri Valley, Ia (I-29&US 30, NE of Omaha) to by my 97 - Ratigan Motor Center - 1 800 432 5830. They sell GM and Mopar. Ask for Pat McKeighan and tell him I sent you. He'll get a chuckle! I bought 2 trucks from him - he was good to me without any BS. They don't tack on $300+ D&H like the Denver crooks, either. Denver dealers are the worst I've seen. I got to a point where I used to torment them as bad as I could just to give them a dose of their own, then I'd call Pat! Craig

As disappointing as that is, I can't justify that kind of loss...when the GM dealers aren't making me eat it.

What year is the Burbon?? Is it a 4X4?? How many miles......Are you looking at a 4X4, laramee... Yes, the megas are overpriced right now, but you don't give enough info about your truck, the equipment you want on the new one, etc...... The resale value on the Cummins is excellent. My brother sold his 03 the first day for $38000. It was the same as mine with a long box and side air bags. The resale on his 97,& '01 was excellent.(His was a SO!) I must be missing something???

Sticker was 39090. Bought it new in the first year of the new body style. Paid
right at 35,000 for it. Its got more stuff in it than just a Hemi and AWD. So I feel just because they can be bought off the lot now for 19000 it's the high gas prices and it's over a year old. The new ones, 2006, are as much as I paid for and in some cases more, so, if I could tell a person that was looking at a new one what will happen down the road, since I think gas prics are going to stay up, I would tell them not to purchase new unless they just want to through their money away.

I did not buy it to tow with, I bought it for my wife to carry the grand kids around in. Seats 7, has side impact air bags, DVD, and another page of stuff.
The kids love it. In six months my wife and I are going to sell the ole house,
buy an RV Port Home and disapear for awhile.

Burb is an 04 Z-71 black/grey leather loaded to the teeth. I'm a fleet buyer, so I get a new truck every year and my company buys another 100 or so. In the past it's never been a problem, we go down with the old truck they give us NADA wholesale, we give them our fleet number, swap keys and drive away. Couldn't be easier...but this year with all the employee pricing the used car market is flooded and market values are in the toilet. If GM would just go bankrupt already and stop blowing trucks out to the general public for dirt. The red tag prices are only 2k more than we pay and we buy a lot of trucks. I put mine in the paper, we'll see if it sells or not. If it does, I'll be buying a megacab...if it doesn't, and since I need to buy before the end of the year for the tax writeoff...I'll have to go where they give me the most on the trade and that I'm very sad to say is the GM dealer. I have a few weeks though, so I'm hopeful....

Sure would like to get into the dodge...we shall see.

It's crazy "up here" too Bill. Pretty soon they'll tell us the price is up because of the plastic parts derived from petrochemicals, and all the fuel used to heat the plant........

Another reason is in less than a month it will be another year older, which to the dealer means less money.

Yah I know it's all a numbers game but still I paid under $14,000 for my new one. If you want the best price you have to shop around and be willing to drive a few hundred miles or more some times. The dealerships around me wanted any where from $2,000-$8,000 more. Guess they didn't want the sale and hence they didn't get it.
I'd sure like to know how the dealere could give you 29k for it.assuming the real value of your 05 was about 34k they still gave you 20k for your trade in.I don't know anyone who would pay 20k retail for a 99ctd.those numbers don't add up,check your post for typo-error.
